When you get down, take a minute to look at the good in your life, not just the bad. When I get depressed, I sit still somewhere quite and think of whats bothering me. Usually the first thing that comes to mind is it. Take 1 problem at a time and try to change it. Finding the right girl is out of your control. I don't know if you are a Christian, but praying does amazing things....seriously. Try it. Ask God to help you change your state of mind, the things in your life that get you down and ask Him for happiness, he wants it for you all you have to do is ask.

Of course depression sucks! I have noticed that you will never attract the right person as long as you are down in a depression. You attract what you come off as- no matter how unconsciously you do it. After suffering from depression for 10 years, I've learned that nothing falls into place until you are okay with yourself. That's not the easiest thing to do when depressed, which is why I take medication to help me out. Nothing wrong with admitting you need a little help.

Sorry about the stupid answers. Don't hurt your self....Let me ask you a question.. Do you drink a lot of soda? Or eat a lot of stuff that has High Fructose Corn Syrup as an ingredient? Bread, ketchup... almost anything prepackaged and sweet. If so, you may want to get on webmd, and look up the effects of the High Fructose Corn Syrup on your body's ability to effectively utilize and break down the cortisol in your body. Cortisol (sometimes I see it spelled cortizol) is what allows our body to have adrenaline in a panic situation... H. F.C.S. won't allow your body to "shut down" the panic attacks. It keeps you in a constant state of anxiety and panic. I was a soda "addict" and was for years having panic attacks... couldn't understand it, and finally read an article in a magazine, did more research, tried staying off sodas for a while, felt better, decided to have one, because I thought I was over the anxiety. But, when I drank it, I felt the anxiety creeping back over me, and decided that I liked the anxiety free me better than I liked the soda. It can also make your hair thinner, and give you a "spare tire" around the middle...
If you are taking meds, and they haven't worked, what do you have to lose by researching and see if I'm right? Ask your doctor about prolonged use of anti- depressants. Have heard that they can cause one to want to hurt themselves and others, and knew of a girl whose kid - did just that.
Hope you feel better.
P.S. I like Moi's answer, about changing what you can, and praying for help with the rest. You do have to face problems like debt, take control, take responsibility, and then relax. Enjoy the rest of your anxiety (and soda) free life. I hope it works for you. It really has for me. Don't quit if at first you fall. It took me over a year to get totally off... But now I have been off completely - for over six months, and my stress levels are nothing compared. And the real stress that I do have... I can handle.

First don't listen to ashes-asshole. Try to hang in their. I suffer from depression also, you need to get a therapist, and a doctor to prescribe meds for you. I'm on several meds for anxiety, depression, and OCD. Go to a local hospital and get a list of depression support groups in your area, if you have any thoughts about hurting yourself, go to a hospital immediately, and don't be ashamed of it, it doesn't mean your weak, its not a character flaw, its a real, and serious disease, Mike

Go see a doctor. There is a huge misconception about mental health in this country and in our society in general. Mental health is a health issue that can be dealt with appropriately. If you could find a good mix of therapy and medication (don't listen to idiotic Tom Cruise) you will be on your way to a brighter life.
Life is good.

Yep, I know how you feel. I have it sometimes, too. In fact, I take Zoloft for anxiety. I have major panic attacks over stupid little stuff. I feel like I can't really talk to anyone. None of my friends really understand why I never want to do anything. It's hard to explain. Yeah, I know what you mean.
