I don't know about you, but I wouldn't want a sex offender around my children no matter what the offense. A smart person doesn't have sex with minors, period, whether he's 18 and she's 15, or he's 28 and she's 15, it's just not smart.
It's your children... better safe than sorry! Once something like that is done, it cannot be undone.

In most states he can be around them as in a short visit. However, he cannot live with minor children or be in places where lots of children frequent (arcade, park, etc.) Also, most states have laws that make them have to register as sex offenders and let the public in the area where they live aware that they are there in the area. Most states have a sex offender registery online or at local courthouses. Most laws will vary from state to state.

If you are asking if it was legal for him to be near them I could only guess the answer. It was not safe for your children. You did the correct thing to protect your children. If he is on probation, there may be a stipulation that he not be alone with minors. If he was alone with your children he might have violated parole. Some states post photographs online of every person convicted of a sexual offense, for the rest of their life. If you look him up, online, through your state dept of corrections sexual offenders list, it might give his status.
I hope lots of people read your post, because it is a good example of how young mothers must be protective of their children at all times. Good luck in the future !

He will be able to be around them ONLY if he is supervised. Meaning that you or another adult is around to view what is being said and done. I would only let your daughther go around them if you are positive that they will be treated right. Even if he is your buddy, theres always a chance that he will harm your children. You can never be too careful, even if you do know him.

I've been through this first hand, my ex fiancee told me he was accused of molesting his cousins and that it was dropped because the cousins "made it up", so I didn't have "anything to worry about"...NOT!!!
Come to find out it was true regarding his cousins because I ended up catching him red handed with my daughter. (he has been convicted)
It was bad enough that my ex husband had also molested her and my ex fiancee knew this. (he has also been convicted)
Don't turn your back on him, better yet, avoid all contact with him for your childs sake.
