I was on it for three years before having a major side effect happen in December. Ended up in a treatment center for a few days. Got the help I needed and on a different medicine. I doing fine now, but it was a close call before hand. It was to the point of me wanting to committ suicide. Anbody out there have any experiences or info of being on and/or off of it?

Everyone reacts to medications differently. I've been on it for a few years and was on it for a few years a long time ago. I have a habit of reading the side effects on any medication I take. Paxil's side effects are wicked but some people don't have side effects until they try to stop taking it. That's the way I am. When I stop taking it without trickling down the amount, I get horrificly ill. The way I describe it to others is the feeling of the flu mixed with the feeling of a concussion. On top of that my emotions are out of control. I take Paxil for depression and social anxiety disorder. It's the best perscription I've ever had. Nothing else has ever worked for me. I just have to be careful to get of of it in small incriments instead of cold turkey, so to speak. :^) Good luck. :^)

My sister was on it for panic attacks and it was horrible watching her come off of it.Suicidal thoughts are listed as a dangerous side effect from the drug. I would stay away from it. I have heard nothing but bad stuff about coming off it. Glad you are OK now.
God Bless
