DS lite differences:

Smaller
Lighter
Brighter
Bigger Stylus
Clam shell closes completely (no gap between the middle when you fold it up)
Power button is on the side of the system and is a slider (like the volume control)
GBA games stick out of the GBA slot very slightly
Longer battery life (depending on the brightness level that you use).

The ds lite is lighter than the original ds in weight, the screen is sturdy, where it is harder to scratch it, the ds lite also gets rid of the "clamshell" shape that the original ds had in the bigging. Nintendo also moved some buttons around, making it easier for hand gestures and allows the person to play in a comfortable position. it opens more like a book now, even on both sides so that u can hold it vertically. The lite is more efficient, as it contains led lites that last longer and are brighter, and the system is much smaller. The ds and lite are the exact same price.
