It's already happening. Note what happened in California. They were all set to kick out the republicans from a house seat over a huge scandal. The candidate was dead last in the polls with no chance in hell of winning. He made one small change and came out strongly against the amnesty proposed by the senate and won by a landslide.
Here in NJ we have a senate seat up for grabs. The incumbant is one of the biggest defenders of abusive immigration. His republican opponent is anti-amnesty. Any predictions on who is going to win.
This issue is going to change the composition of congress dramatically. Anyone who, in any way, supports immigration will be booted out and replaced with a hard liner against immigration. Further, it's only the tip of the iceberg. What you are going to see, is a realization that championing conservative issues is a sure win in politics. This won't change anything about the dems but I bet the republicans finally figure out that what Bush is doing to the party is destroying their power base. The party will turn away from Bush and his republicans in name only and return to conservative values. I predict crushing defeats for the dems this November and during the next presidential election.

Highly Doubt it, the "big rats" as you may call them are not obligated to you or your ideals unless they represent your State. Incumbancy Avantage states that the incumbant has a higher probablity of being sent back to the Senate. So unless the rest of the state or the states the "big rats" represent feel the same way you do 95% of the Senators would be returned to the Senate.

I looked at a list of Presidential hopefuls and still the only one I saw for the Republican party was McCain. I hear Frist is thinking of making a run, but he was a big part of putting that bill together as well.
Yes, I think a lot of Senators need to be reminded who they work for. Looking ahead to the 2008 Presidential election, it is looking fairly grim, though.

Yes, it is a good time to clean house. But instead of looking at Dems or Pubs, why don't we give the Libertarians a chance?
will be tough to get Kennedy out, for some reason, his state keeps putting him back in office. It just defies logic.

I'm all 4 that...It'd do my heart good to see him stop trading on JFK's fame and finally troddle his fat butt out the door...stop the charade, stop pretending to represent voters, make way for someone who's never heard of Chappaquiddick etc...
