I'm a Muslim..yet I grew up in a Cristian country and attended a Church of England school..
And I hope because of that I have a good understanding of Christian theology as well as my own religion...

But I'm shocked at the ignorance on this site...

And that aren't people aware of the term 'Abrahimic religion'
Jews, Christians, and Muslims all worship the SAME GOD. The God of Abrahim.
And all theologist Christian ,Jew, and Muslim agree with this....

Muslims also believe in Moses, Adam, and Noah, and even though we don't believe that Jesus was the son of God we do beleive that he is a very respected prophet.

Also our religon does not tell us to kill all 'infidels'...it forbids us from killing any cilivilan..

I've never seen a Muslim man wear a turban..Sikhs wear turbans :-))
And we don't say 'dirka dirka dirka or wear rags on our heads!

Why is it acceptable to show so much ignorance of religion???

..surely to truely love your religion you must at least know the basic facts about others..

And how can you know anything about your religion if you follow an Abrahamic religion..and not be aware of the term!.

And if more people learnt about others they would notice our simularities...and they would be less hate in this world..and more respect

I'm jewish and have the same problem with people's warped attitudes on this. We should form an organization: "Women against stupid religious warmongering and prejudice."

The underlying reason that there is so much turmoil among religionists is that each and every religion is profoundly flawed and Anti-God at heart. If you can be honest with yourself, you will come to believe this is true. All of man's religions are hypocritical at the very least, and when given the opportunity, this or that religion will seek to oppress opposing views by all means possible. Millions of people have been killed throughout human history in the name of religion X,Y, or Z. Or, in the name of religion's X, Y, or Z noted leader! All religions are corrupt to the core and keep billions of people confused as to what path to take in life. A good rule of thumb to live by is this : If everybody is doing it, you can be absolutely certain that it is the wrong thing to do, because man can only DETRACT from his Maker's will! See?

I don't understand why people have their religions. I grew up mostly as agnostic and then raised Catholic via schooling. I find religions as a means of congregating. It's almost like racism. Why do people have to believe in some being. If it makes a person feel better, then OK. Otherwise, all religions are meant for is to draw people to a common cause in order to defeat another cause. In your religion, YOU are peaceful, but there are others in your religion that are not. Muslims shouldn't be exluded though. Think about Ireland and the Protestant/Catholic fighting. Until 9/11, Ireland's woes were always in the news. If people didn't have a specific religion, what reason would there be to fight? Something to think about.

Technically, no they don't You see, it all hinges on Jesus Christ, and what His position is in their religion. In Christianity, He is God. In Islam, He is a great teacher. In Judaism, He is a blasphemer. If in Christianity He is God, then we cannot ALL worship the same God. Accordingly, Charles Ryrie, Chuck Swindoll, Dr. Robert Kendall, et al. ALL believe the same way I do.

A great number of people that say they are Christian are not. They were born in a christian society but do not practice the religion. Note...As people become better educated and not just schooled religion begins to be needed less and less. Civil law takes the place of the controlling mechanism of a society. It will happen with your religion as well.

I've understood that Muslims worship the God of Abraham, the same as Jews and Christians, and I respect that. Muslims don't have the Messiah concept; they believe it isn't necessary. I'm a Christian, but I try to be tolerant of these differences in beliefs. God knows where everybody will fit in Eternity; He will judge all according to His plan. I have never believed in just one Heaven or Hell; each will go where he/she is fit to go.

Ah ... I think I have already given an answer to you on this elsewhere.

People have built beautiful buildings in which to worship God and have written lovely poetry to try to describe the Ineffable and many have come to believe that the words and the buildings are all that is to be seen of God, that He is somehow unapproachable otherwise. It is sad that what many people think they worship as God is a God made in man's image who they seek to justify with words written by men.

Those who seek to meet the truth in their hearts, whatever their religion and background, do indeed worship the same being.

Well, I was raised in a Catholic school in a country where the majority is Muslim, I was baptised as an Orthodox Christian, yet Judaism is my true love. . . . . .However, I do not believe in any of them; I respect the cultural and moral aspects of all religions and I denounce the dogmatic and theological parts just because they are beyond my ability to understand. . .

I'm a simple man, from a simple town. And I am shocked too, at the ignorance of people. I wish, like you, that they would get busy, and learn as much as we know. In the meantime, like yourself, I spend much time enlightening the world, on Yahoo! Answers.

Perhaps this is why your family emigrated, to teach the world.

My ancestors emigrated to this country, fleeing oppresion, and enforced ignorance. I think they did the right thing.

And I'm really sorry you have to suffer all the 'towel head jokes'.

because they are taught incorrectly, by people who throw away their intelligence and rely on their "feelings". These are the kind of people that Jesus called "the blind leading the blind".

There is a lot of apostacy in the world today. This site tends to stick your face right into the dung pile.

EDIT: actually, I shouldn't say they are unintelligent, but they certainly pick and choose what they want to believe, and twist what they don't understand into what they want to see. It's a human trait, and sadly, the cause of much strife. I think this whole thing was just one giant misunderstanding.

People got a religion mostly from the influence of their parents...so it's not this is not a huge deal, since the religion is really a very complicated thing and not everyone have the time to invest by themselves about that, or simply like me, live happily without the need to know about it
