When my daughter was 5 we got an adult dog that we saw for free in the newspaper. An hour after we got home, the owners called to ask if they could have it back because the children were crying. After they came and got it my daughter started crying so I promised her a puppy. Next day she went to visit her Dad's for a week so in that time I made up some signs asking for a free puppy and posted them in the local grocery stores. I soon got a call about a 16 week old puppy a lady had brought home from a place to try to find it a good home. So I went and got the pup. It was on the condition that I would get her shots, which I did and later got her spayed. She was a husky mix (looked like a samoyed) and we named her Jazz. Even though it was rough at first while she was young, when she grew up she was the most wonderful dog.

Even though you can get a dog for free please remember that it is important to get the shots and spay or neuter it. That costs money, as does the food of course so make sure you are going to be able to afford these very essential things.

You would have to search the free ads in your local paper. Or place an ad that you are looking for a free puppy. If it has to be free, then stay away from the pound and shelters since they charge an adoption fee. Also you might want to check out the public boards at grocery stores and places like walmart, to search or place a note of your own.....Good luck

There is NO SUCH THING as a free puppy. Sure you may take him home for free, but then you have to look at the expenses of keeping a dog. There are vet bills, heartworm prevention, flea control, pet supplies, training, food, ect.
If it is sweet puppies you crave, look into dog walking or maybe even being a foster home for your local humane society/shelter. They ALWAYS appreciate the help and concern for the animals.

Ask friends and neighbors. Post your request in grocery stores and laundry mats. Look in the classified ads.
Realize that the puppy you get will probably be a mongrel but will still have lots of love to share.

Try craigslist.com & your local animal shelter. There are many puppies out there that need good homes & for whatever reason, their original owners can't keep them. The puppies from shelters may cost a little because they are often fixed & vaccinated, but you need to eventually pay for that anyway, so they're practically free!

Go to your local animal shelter. You will give a homeless animal a home and get a great pet while maybe saving it's life..

Good luck to you & your puppy.

First question: Are you able to take care of it? Spend the money necessary for food, toys and health? Can you give it the time it deserves? If you've answered yes to all of those questions, then buy a stuffed animal...you're too young to take care of a living thing!

There are rescue organizations in every area. Search the net.

Also, humane society and SPCAs have occasional sales.
