Neither, usually a hug if it's been a while, with the face pointed down, otherwise just a smile and some 'good to see you's'. I don't think I'm uptight, but I get uncomfortable with the kissing. It can make people feel slighted or invaded too easy.

If we're just friends there is typically no kissing at all. If you kiss someone on the lips I'd definitely say there's potential, depending on availability and attraction of course.

My inlaws are European so we kiss on the cheeks - but with my regular American friends a simple hug is acceptable if I haven't seen them for a while. If I see them a lot then we don't hug everytime I see them.

on the cheek, i'm orioginally from germany and we greet our friends and guest with a lil peck n the cheek or a cheek on cheek kiss :)

on the cheek if your just friends theres no reason to kiss him on the lips unless you like him then mabe its ok if he feels the same way.
