I was just wondering if an atheist should be able to say. "God bless you." Technically, isn't this false? Please respond !!

Should an American be able to say "Hasta la vista, baby" ?

This is a silly question. Shoot them all.

Well, if someone sneezes, it is customary to say "bless you." In class, when someone sneezes, half the room says "bless you." None of us are really thinking about what we are saying, but because it is polite, we say it.

If it is a custom to say "god bless you," atheists can say it, because it may be weird or impolite to refrain from saying it.

"God bless you" is a secular saying these days. I'm atheist, and I still say "god damnit" and "oh my god" it doesn't have anything to do with god, it's just something you say when you're pissed. And I don't know how you're going to ban atheists from saying "god bless you"

my preacher actually did a sermon on something like this, that is kind of like a non christian praying to God, they don't believe or accept Jesus, they don't obey God or want anything to do with Him, so it's kind of an insult to Him, well not really an insult but you get where i'm coming from

if it makes you that uncomfortable don't say that. Just say bless you instead. omit "god" in the phrase. other than that I do not think that many people would care.

I eschew "god bless you" or "bless you" when someone sneezes in favor of "gesundheit," which makes a lot more sense when you think about it.
