I think some do. I think some Christians feel sorry for Atheists- they believe we are going to hell. Some Christians feel angry with Atheists and think we are hatefull and amoral. Some Atheists think Christians are weak minded sheep just following the herd, some think Christians are stupid hypocrites. However, some Christians and Atheists alike have agreed to disagree and let each other believe or not believe in whatever we so choose. I am an Atheist and I respect others beliefs and don't look down on anyone- especially for their spiritual beliefs.

I wonder why anyone from either group should "look down" on anyone from the opposing group. If you choose not to believe in God it's your decision. I might try to share my experience with you in case you just haven't heard that there is far more than most people know. But if you don't want to hear it's your call. You are no better or worse than me. Just as my faith doesn't make me any less or more of a human being than you (using you as an example only, I don't know your situation).

I considered myself an atheist until God made it very clear to me in an instant that He had something more for me. Remember Saul? He thought he was doing God's service by killing Christians until God appeared to him on the road to Damascus.
I'm just saying, most atheists are atheists only because they have never experienced something real in God. If they (as I did) received what those in Acts 2 received they would be completely changed (as I was). Thirty years later I am more convinced of God's truth than I was even on that night in 1976. I remember the exact hour and minute. It was that real for me and so many others I have met since then. God is still real. More real than most people can even imagine. And He's on a schedule.

Being a Christian, I know I don't look down on some one for being an atheists or any other belief. I do share my faith, to those who pose questions, and I do defend my faith when it is mocked by those who don't understand or care to. I have notice that Both so called Christians and non-believers both do a lot of bashing, but the non-believers do seem to enjoy it so much more!

I think it is the other way around. Atheists almost always are atheists because they believe themselves to be smarter than Christians, whereas the reverse is not nearly so prevalent. And, look at it from the Christian perspective: if we really believe all that we say, then it would/should be motivated out of love and concern to "convert" you. :)

It's more we pity them than look down on them. And you wanted my honest opinion, and if you get offended and cant take it, then rewrite your question. Jesus Christ also pitied them, and tried to help them and show them the Truth. We just try to follow in Christs footsteps, and yes we stumble, but God is there to pick us back up.

It goes both ways. Atheists look down on Christians because we feel they are naive and incapable of thinking logically, similarly, Christians look down on Atheists because they feel we are mislead and have been tricked by the devil.

i think Christians and atheists have a mutual distaste for each other.
Christians look down on atheists because atheists are basically against what christians hold dearest.
Atheists look down on christians because they see them as sheep, following something that an atheist doesnt believe exists.

I think it depends on the individual.
I am a Christian and don't lok down on atheists. I believe everyone has the right to believe in or not believe in whatever they like, as long as they dont try to push their beliefs on me, just like I wont push my beliefs on anyone else :)

No I pray for them that their eyes are open that they may see the Light, and find their way to Christ Jesus.

Pity their plight, not look down. All were lost, but Christians have found life, and just pray others find life, too.
