It used to be of great benefit to believers - it made people take the religion seriously. It pointed out that there was great consequence to our actions and that there are enormous forces at work that are beyond any one man's control.
These days however, the book of Revelations is being used by dominionists (Christian Supremacists) as a big excuse not to care about the ills of the world. No one could have predicted that one day there would be Christians who did not care and used the good book as a reason to avoid responsibility for the earth and other people.
A lot of narrow minded folks only read the parts of the Bible that most benefit themselves...
For example:
If someone were so inclined, they could site numerous examples of how the Bible suggests that we should protect nature and the environment... but now people reduce the whole thing to "Oh well, it's all gonna go to heck in a handbasket - but I'll be in Heaven so I don't really care."
This kind of thinking was not intended and it is unnatural and wrong.

It profits a Christian to know Revelation as much as it profits a Christian to know any other book of the Bible. Revelation is a good story of the end-times, and is a topic of continuous theological debate. Knowing a lot about Revelation keeps a Christian up-to-date on the latest topics in Christian pop culture. Finally, if it furthers one's faith, what more profit could be gained?

When you are a Christian it is always good to know about what the Bible says. As for Revelations goes that can be a confusing book to learn and fully understand. The Bible does have many things in that we can grasp knowledge from. As for the prophet goes, it can be useful when non believers ask us questions and we can give them the answers right away. It is also prophiting to Christians to know what is coming up in the future and to be prepared our own selves to be ready for the rapture, which is the blessing of Jesus Christ taking His people for a blessed reunion with Him.
I hope this answer helps you. God Bless you now and always.

Every book that is written follows a basic pattern. Every chapter in the book leads up to that one great chapter, the last chapter...the culmination of the entire book..the greatest part, and no story is complete without it, right?
In the beginning of Revelation, chapt 1 v. 3...it says "blessed is he who reads and those who hear the words of the prophecy, and heed the things which are written in it..."
Blessed. Not cursed, not full of fear, not "the wrath of God cometh down upon..."...no, blessed.
This is the greatest of all of the chapters in the great Book. This is the greatest chapter in telling of the love of Jesus for His people, in the whole Bible...the book of Revelation is intricately connected with the whole rest of the Bible,
Why do you think that it is also the most confusing and terrifying book for most people? I tell you that the devil has been working overtime to create confusion, fear, and mis-interpretation of this great and wonderful book because he is out to destroy us, to utterly ravage us with fear...because he knows that if we would just read the book, we would have power to bring forth understanding to the people, and snatch them from the gates of hell with the POWER of God and the amazing love of Jesus, the lamb of God.
There is one man that I know of that has amazing revelation of this wonderful book of the Bible, and (he's 82 and has been studying it for about 50 years) teaches it without any doom, gloom or fear!! Check out his materials...http://www.hilton-sutton.org/

It tells you how to recognize the anti-Christ, and also how to know when Jesus comes down, as well as warn us so we will know what to expect. but I think it's mostly just reminding us that in the end we win!!!
but as a christian, I believe you should try to know as much of the Bible as possible, however Revelations is not my favorite book,
I have a problem with it that I need to get over with,
I have always found it really weird, it's pretty unusual stuff, I mean with all the creatures, seals, and angels....
but we have to remember that our thoughts are not Gods thoughts, and Gods ways seem foolish to man.
another thing that has always bothered me is about how all the non-believers get tortured so badly,(maybe It's supposed to encourage us to try to save them)
I know it makes me feel horrible thinking about these things happening to unsaved people that I care about, and that always makes it especially depressing, I need to get over that and see it as encouragement to go out there and win souls over to Gods side!

it doesnt. revelations is more of a book to scare non-believers into heaven. if you're allready a christian, it doesnt really help you other than to tell you how the end of the world is going to be

Rev 1:3 Blessed is he that readeth, and they that hear the words of this prophecy, and keep those things which are written therein: for the time is at hand.
If you read, and then keep the things that you are told to keep from it, it will bring blessing to your life. Besides the "prophecies" are timeless principles of faithful, witnessing, and obedience that every Christian of every era needs to understand.

I guess they figure they can "read the omens" and decide when the world will end. I think that's bad doctrine, though. Didn't Jesus say no one knew the day or the hour?
