I have been a licensed broker in multiple states for 10 years. The answer to your question is NO...
This is a common myth.
The vin # is what identifies your vehicle to your insurer.. .. There is no representation within the coding of your vin # to distinguish the color of your vehicle. I will tell you however, that statistics indicate that "hot" colored vehicles tend to get pulled over more often. This will not affect your insurance either.....
Happy motoring.... get the red one if that is what you really wanted!!!

Yes, the color of a car can affect insurance rates. Most insurance agencies make a red car have higher insurance while other colors aren't as high. Rates are also affected by gender.

No the color of the car is not even a factor in the rate for insurance. An agent has no way to tell what color your car is.

Of course not. If so your insurance would go up or down every time you had your car repainted for any reason. Your insurance rates are affected by where you live, what your driving record is, the age of your vehicle, but not color.

No. My insurance company doesn't even ask the color of the car.
Oddly, bright yellow cars have lower accident rates, probably because they're more visible and should qualify for a discount. ;)
