Technically, yes, Mexicans are Americans. The reason being, there is no country called America. There is a country called the United States of America, and there are two continents called the Americas. You are completely correct and anyone who says different does not know what they are talking about. I challenge anyone to find a map that calls this country America as opposed to the United States of America, America being the continent within which the states are united.

They are. Anyone from North, Central, South America and the Caribbean can be called an American. The true is that the USA don't have a country name like Mexico, Cuba or Argentina. They usurp the American name. The architect Frank Lloyd Wright use a more correct name Usonian.

Do you know what countries are? Where did you here this Idea from. If you are from Mexico, do not have any parents that are American then NO you are not an American.
The country of is on the North America Continent, but they are not part of the United States of America. Mexico is there own country with their own states. Then are not called the Mexican States of America, as referring to the continent.

If you are trying to say that Mexico is part of North America, you can be considered technically correct. The fact is that citizens are referred to by their country, not their continent. The common reference of "American" refers to citizens of the United States Of America. The USA is the country with the word America in the name, so that is where "Americans" are!

Ok, this is part of the problem. Outright stupidity of Mexicans or ignorance. I don't know which is the case with you but I will try to explain this. America and Mexico are two seperate countries. Why do you think all of the illegal Mexicans from MEXICO are trying to get into the U.S.? There would be no need to do that if they were one and the same.
Probably, and I am only guessing, one of your family members told you that line of garbage. It comes from their senseless idea that we owe them something, even though we do not. Many Mexicans have a false sense of entitlement. IF YOU ARE FROM MEXICO, YOU ARE A MEXICAN. Not American. That is the most ridiculous thing I have ever heard. It's kind of sad that you even had to ask something so simple.

No, you would be a North American (from the continent of North America) however, you would not be an American, which means from the country the United States of America. I understand that Mexico's full name is very similar to America's, yet everyone calls it Mexico.
No one is confused who Americans are, we are the only country with the word "America" in the name.

Yes, technically, but not in the way that most of us use it. Usually I agree with you 100%, but I dont want to have to say I am United Statesian, or from the United States of America, it is too long. If Mexicans can be called Mexicans when they are from Los Estados Unidos Mexicanos, then why cannot we just be called Americans? If we call all people in this continent Americans, then it makes it too confusing.

If you are from mexico, then technically you could say you are from the Americas.
Canadians are actually North American, just like people from The United States.
I think Mexico is considered North Central America. Formerly known as New Portugal.

'america' is actually 3 geographical regions. Mexicans are from the region that isn't really north america, isn't really central america, kind of in the middle there, but they'd really really like to move right in and be US citizens. Most 'americans' though, as US citizens like to call ourselves, are against this shotgun marriage, as we realize who's going to be paying for it, namely US. Mexico needs to try and work harder on fixing their own problems instead of trying to ingratiate themselves into the USA.
Until and unless they do, they'll never be seen as partners, only as parasites...sad, but that's the way a lot of people see it, north of the border anyway...
