well, I'm very sorry to hear that, baby.... as for what to do... well, i would say count your blessings... you should be supportive of them for that is an illness and in time it can go away... love your parents no matter what and be thankful that you have both of them there.... a person like me would be happy to say i have two crazy parents here with me then to say i have a mother who raised me to a certain extent and a father who was never there for me.... you seem to be doing alright, that you can sit and type us the question and you have the ability to spell and think clearly.... again, stand by your parents and be supportive.... God knows best for them.... GOOD LUCK AND STAY STRONG....

No matter what, these people are your parents. Please just try to get the best education you can and get a good job so you can take care of yourself in the future.Try not to be overly critical as it could happen to you someday.I pray it doesn't and I understand how difficult this time is for you right now, but I can tell ya that forms of mental illness can erupt later in life even if you are fine now.
So just get yourself together and build a good life for yourself. You can do it! Never be afraid to reach out for help in sorting through all this stuff.Don't let it give you a reason to make bad choices. I wish you much happiness in your future.

Talk openly about it if possible. If not, be supportive towards them and encourage they get on the proper medication. Bipolar individuals tend to suffer from huge ups and downs. Its important that they know they have people to help them through these episodes.

Since they're your parents you might also want to talk to them about your family history. I don't think all of their ailments would be passed on to you. It might be just them. Find out some family history. Did your grandparents suffer from this? Any aunts or uncles? Cousins?

Its also a good idea to be proactive and look into different types of treatment for mental health. Sometimes pills are not for everyone. Keep an open mind and research as much as you can on their illnesses. I posted a link in my sources.

Sweetie, what your parents are going through does not make them crazy. It makes them human. Mental illness is just as critical as physical illness. You wouldn't make fun of them if they both had cancer. Being ill, regardless of how should not be taken lightly. I understand how hard it is, but you need to be there for your parents, research their disabilities and learn how to love them through the good and the bad. Don't look down on them because they don't meet your standards.

Move out. I know what its like man. My mom stabbed her self with a steak knife when I was like 6, that's when I decided to move with some relatives, now I'm 17 and I live on my own in SF, going to school, and I'm gonna help her out when I finish, and have a steady job and life.
Just right now, you need to be focused on what you can do now, so you can help later. If you want to.

If you haven't already done so, educated yourself about their illness and see if their doctors will advise you about interacting with them. Good luck.
