Cats rarely need baths because they groom themselves. If you absolutely have to bathe him because he got into something smelly, here's how. Only do it a couple of times a year. Baths are not good for cats. It dries out their skins.
1. Go to Petsmart and buy a shampoo especially for cats.
2. Fill a sink or tub large enough for the cat. Have a large dry towel nearby.
3. Put the cat into a pillowcase up to his neck.
4. Soap up the cat THROUGH the pillowcase. Don't get it in his eyes or on his face. Lather him well.
5. Gently rinse him also through the pillowcase.
6. Remove the pillowcase and dry the cat as well as you can with the towel. He will shake himself to remove any excess water.

Cats don't usually need baths if they groom themselves properly; however, go to the local pet store and buy cat wipes if you're concerned. Throwing a cat into a tub and using soap and water is akin to trying to nail Jello to a tree. Good luck.

Most cats do not like getting wet. Try bath wipes, you can get them at most pet stores and they work pretty well. I use them on my cat since he will tolerate the shower, but it traumatizes him so I only do it when he gets visibly dirty. The rest of the times the bath wipes do a good job of de-stinking him and making his coat soft again. Just wipe till his fur is damp, them brush dry.

It natural that cats dont like water so there is no way to make them like it ..I have 8 cats whom i bathe 1ce every 2 weeks... Avoid running water they hate the sound...bring a cup and try not to fill the water up to high. :)

Well if he's really young he'll get used to it..not love it but tolerate it. If he's over 2 all I can say is you should've started earlier. Have you seen those pet wipes? You can get them @ Petco etc, its like a 'dry bath' wipe that you can use without water.

wrap the cat up in a towel, tight enough to hold their legs in place, but not so tight as to hurt them or restrict their breathing, then unwrap each area and wash with a washcloth or petwipe. this also work really well for trimming claws.

My cat hates baths too!!! I tried the wipes or the foam and he would just run. You could just take him to Petco and they will groom him.
