I am not crude enough to believe that literalists accept that the two sons of adam and even had children with their own mother, but I am curious as to how this problem is over come, and if adam and eve did have more children it is still insest. Please, enlighten me.

"Because Allah Loves Wonderous Variety" robinhood prince of thieves

The Bible never says God stopped creating with Adam with Eve it just says that he rested. One theory is that he simply created more people here, there and everywhere which is why we don't know where the garden of eden is.

My personal belief is that Adam & Eve were the first people, and they had children. I don't believe they were the ONLY people though. Adam could represent ALL men, and Eve could represent ALL women. And Cain & Able were named, but the bible stated they had MANY children. So, the many children could be the population of everyone one. Not just the ONE Adam and the ONE Eve.

OH, and Able was killed by Cain. So Cain was the only "son" left. We was banished to the Land of Nod, where he met a woman. That's where I get my "theory". Because otherwise, where did the woman come from?

So, I believe Adam & Eve are first, but not only.

The Bible is not trying to hide the fact. However, you should know that Adam and Eve had more children than just Cain, Abel, and Seth. This is easy to know because it says Cain took a wife and went to some other land...yet Adam and Eve still have another son. There had to be other women, but it is more likely they were brother and sister at first.

Well, the Bible said that he (Adam) continued to have children for 800 more years. Any of them could have been a girl or a boy, but of course that would still be incest.

And although Adam and Eve may have been the first two humans, that doesn't mean that God didn't make more somewhere else. Just because something hasn't been written doesn't mean it hasn't happened, just like if something was written it doesn't mean it happened.

I'm not a religious guy anyway, I'm just giving my input on the knowledge I was raised with and/or learned.

Adam and Eve were not of the same parents. They had no parents.
Who is this God Who you doubt and question as if He had signed some contract with you to tell you everything about His Creation?
Adam was the man but who knows how many mates Adam was given by this Creator?
It is quite apparent that your information comes from the Bible.
Have you researched the Bible enough to "see" what it really says about so many things that you have taken as your belief from your parents and those around you?

I read some ridiculous fairy tale of an explanation once on an intelligent design website. Apparently, since we were closer to God at that time, there were no imperfections in our DNA, so incest did not raise the risk of severe birth defects (which is why most societies forbid it), therefore it was A-OK to practice incest back in the day. The Bible mentions Cain & Able by name, it also says they had "Many Sons & Daughters" Although it does NOT say why Cain had to go to the Land of Nod to get a bride when he surely had other sisters closer to home, or even why his sisters (or neices or whoever) were living in a foreigh land, not with their parents.

insest wasn't a concept considered back then. the first record I can find of the word is roman rule. though some may have looked down on it, many powerful lines historically are quite inbreed to keep the "roal line pure," while this may seem wrong, only after the 19th century did people make it a criminal offense (it really is in a good part of the us)

There were plenty of women around, for Cane, Able and Seth. Adam was inspired by God, and that's about the only difference between him, and the rest of the species. Eve, and her children, got their inspiration through Adam.

As to incest, their are plenty of examples, later in the Bible, of what we now call incest; Abram, Issac, Jacob...
They were all the product of cousins getting married. Take the time to draw the family tree of Joseph. His parents and grandparents were inbred for four generations.

These folks were not ignorant of selective breeding. In fact, Jacob was an expert. It was his job, for twenty years, working for his uncle, Laban.

When you live literally HUNDREDS of years you tend to have a lot of children. It might sound gross, but the way it is now isnt the way it was back then, we cant talk about then and think about now. They needed to populate the earth, and they did. I highly doubt the sons produced children by their mother, or the daughters with their father.
