yes but u have to get ur heart rate up to lose weight.

I lost a lot of weight by brisk walking at the gym on my lunch hour. I lost almost 40 pounds in 7 months. I walked 35-40 minutes five times a week.
I also watched what I ate but the walking ,if nothing else kept my head in the game

power walking might burn a little more than just regular walking

Yes, it helps, but more importantely walking is good for your circulation and your legs for exercise.
