The same reasons christians do, I guess. At least the hindus are more creative. How hard is it for a culture of slaves (biblical jews) to take an attitude that things suck for them now, but at the end of the road they will be rewarded and all the non-believers will be punished? That's like my six yr old nephew constantly telling me he's gonna beat me up when he grows up.

Calling someone "stupid" and telling others "bunch of ***" is a sign of ignorance and stupidity. If you do not want to look stupid and ignorant then make an effort to first read all about the Hindu religion and the meaning of spirituality, then you would end up eating your own words.
You are merely putting down others only because you do not understand nor do not want to make the effort to first understand WHY symbols are used for worship. How little you know and how trapped you are within your ego to go around calling others "stupid" while looking like the fool himself.

The Hindus will tell you that they do NOT worship the idols but just use them to concentrate their mental energies on the god/power/force that the image represents.
Don't Christians do the same thing, even though it is prohibited in the Ten Commandments?
Muslims have no such image, not even paintings/photographs (which are a type of image).
I'm a Christian.

The same can be asked of why Christians or Catholics worship a book or two sticks put together. And maybe it's because they're not as ignorant or superficial as you are. What the heck have Hindu worshipers ever done to you. Someone needs to be re-educated or at least be taken the Museum of TOLERANCE.

the r many Christians asking questions,to make fun on us or our beliefs .But u won't see many of us asking such questions? that's the difference.sometimes u wont understand our faith,beliefs....etc,it is b'coz u don't have that ability.I think there is only one God,all Christians,Hindus, Muslims....etc might be worshipping His different avatar.At last ,after ur death if God asks why u fail to understand this.What answer will u give him?

I don't think using "stupid idols" it's really respectful for this people they believe in this religion. Before saying "stupid idols", I think you have to redefined the respect you have for others human being.

i also find it weird how ppl can worship idols, but u need to respect others right to believe in whatever if u want urs to be respected.

They worship besides Allah something for which no authority has come down, something about which they have no knowledge. There is no helper for the wrongdoers. (Quran, Surat al-Hajj, 71)
