All but the "holy books" which were created by liars for liars, are more credible than anyone's ramblings.

But even they (reference books) are the ramblings of someone, so a person always has to consider the source and whether the information makes sense when compared to counter-arguments, if any.

So.. just because a book can be published, that makes it "words of knowledge"? The original Buddhist teachings were passed on as verbal record, memorized by each monk word for word, before eventually being commited to print. At that point in time, then, would they have just been "personal ramblings"? or "words of knowledge"?

Brevity is the soul of wit. Answers need to be short and to the point. We all have access to to dictionaries and encyclopedias. Sometimes the ramblings are interesting. Terse eloquence.

Naturally the preference would be one of knowledge.
However we must understand that within the frame work of any discourse there are going to be some ramblings.
The intelligent person sifts through these and gets to the meat of the statement right away.
