well just tell him but first of all if you are going out with someone it shouldnt matter if he works or not unless you just are going out with him for money

Well lets look at the picture. Are you in the relationship for money? Probably not. It doesn't matter whether he works or not (because you two aren't married and having bills to pay, but of course it is both people's responsibility to pay them) but if he has no goals in life that should be a red flag that he might have some confidence issues. Does he need to see a doctor for depression? Does he go to school? Does he have bad experiences with previous employers?

Why are you with someone who won't work? Try telling him you have higher plans for your life than wasting it on someone lazy. Then take your time in finding someone honest, loving, gentle, and hardworking.

unless he is independently wealthy you should definitely tell him to get a job.
