NO. It's people's responsibility to know whats good for them. How can you possibly say that it should be illegal? Whos to decide that they have SUCH a harmful product that it needs to be illegal?? The FDA. But, the FDA, which regulates foods and drugs hasn't declared the food from such chains to be harmful enough to be outlawed. When guns are allowed to be purchased in this country to directly kill humans, why would fast food be illegal to indirectly cause some health problems due to one's individual irresponsibility?
Fast food does have a few tricks up its sleeve, like an abundance of advertisement, pouring billions of dollars a year to get even more people to eat there more often. Perhaps this advertisement should be illegal.
This is a very difficult topic, it is much like alchohol. It is one's responsibility to know when to stop, when too much is too much. Ha ha, can you imagine someone saying, "You've had too much of that, it made you unable to drive home to night" or some cashier at mcdonalds being like a bartender stopping them from eating because they had like 3 big macs.

no, this would go along with the idea that it's the fast food restaurant's faults that so many people are obese.....if people could learn some self control they wouldn't be so overweight. so no, i don't think so. also many people can only afford fast food a lot of the time. finally, no because so much of our food industry is rooted in fast food. our economy would like die if fast food was made illegal.

Absolutely NOT. Fast food doesn't make people overweight any more then saying guns kill people. No one is making anyone go into a fast food place and buy the food. No one is forcing them to eat it. We live in a free country, and we should be free to eat what we choose. If we get fat, then we should take responsiblity for our actions. We can choose to eat a salad, or a hamburger. We can choose to drink water or a milkshake. The government is NOT our nanny and should NOT tell us how to live our lives.

NO WAY!!! I would starve without it and it does not make people overweight People who will not show some restraint when dining make themselves overweight or they have medical issues or whatever You are not destined to be overweight because you eat fast food just as you are not destined to be skinney just because you only eat organic veggies Not excerising self control should be illegal not fast food

You're love forever is enough, the 10 points would be a bonus. I don't think it's the job of the government to protect us from ourselves. Example seat belts or motorcycle helmets, we are supposed to be a free country, free to enjoy life even if it might be dangerous. These laws were not passed because our legislators care about us. They were passed because the insurance companies through enough lobby money at them to pass these laws. Seat belts for you're baby might make sense because they don't know the risks that adults know. I might be persuaded to require them to warn you but after that I think people have the right to harm themselves. I won't eat fast food because I care about my health but I can't tell others they can't. Where do you draw the line on freedom. If it doesn't harm anyone else but themselves then let them be free to be fat. All we can do is warn them.

Fast food does not cause people to be overweight, people cause people to be fat, no one forces a person to eat fast food. Also lots of the fast food places offer more healthy options now days. Its to late to outlaw it but certainly we should require cleaner standards and better quality foods from them.

Not illegal. Not all fast food is so bad. Many restaurant chains are trying to give us some healthy choices. The McDonalds asian salad is good, and Wendys,BK and Mcdonalds now offer fruit and milk as choices with happy meals. We need to keep educating people as to what to order, and pressuring food chains to offer more healthy choices.

No, it shouldn't be illegal. Fast food doesn't make people overweight. Consuming more calories than you burn makes you overweight. People need to accept responsibility for their choices - diet and excerise included.

Not all fast food is bad. Vietnamese noodle houses are generally faster than McDonald's, and they use real materials and actually cook the food, not just microwave it with lard.
What should be illegal is the use of poor ingrediants, poorly processed foods, and poor cooking. AKA common fast food chain joints.

Well, maybe MacDonald's as it has gotten really bad. I think the latest news with the government stepping in to downsize portions and make fast food and restaurants more responsible for portion size is a great idea. People tend to eat what is put in front of them and putting less there would help many of us to retrain our mind's idea of a properly sized "portion".
