You can take left over (long, thin) pieces of fabric or twists of yarn, and weave it into a braided rope. Then you tweak the end of the rope at the cat; they just love it! If you use leftover fleece, this also work for a rope bone for dogs.

I make cat toys out of fleece and old jeans. I cut two shapes and sew them together then take catnip and stuff the shape. Sew up the reamining hole and viola cat toy. Also by adding yarn it makes it more fun for your kitty.
Another Idea is using yarn braided and tieing it around the door knob in your home so your kitty can play that way too.

You can give your kitten a plastic Easter egg to play with. My cats love them. They also like golf balls, wadded up foil, and small stuffed animals (they carry one around the house). If you sew you can make the kitten a blanket and that could be it's bed. Cut patches and sew them together. Make a pillow or donate an old one of yours (even a small pillow).

Paper towel tubes are good, balled up scraps of paper, cotton balls, ballpoint pens, milk caps. As far as a bed use an old pillow with an old shirt or towel layed over it, or just a cardboard box with old towels in it.
