The fact is. If you don't get your dog the tratment he needs it is going to die. Try calling around to different vets and try o get a better price. Try contacting the local animal shelters and see if they can help you out. It's too late for normal heartworm pills. The pills are you prevent infestation. It does nothing if the animal allready has the worms. If you really can't afford to get the treatment maybe you can give the dog to someone who can help it. I know it sounds horrible to give your dog away. But Your dog is suffering and it's more cruel to let him go through it.

If the puppy has heartworms, you MUST treat it or it will die...No question about it. If you do choose to treat it, you will then have to put it on heartworm medication or you will find yourself in this situation again. My heart goes out to you, but you must realize that taking on the responsibility of a pet is a serious thing. Dogs need more than food and water to live a healthy life.
Should you choose not to treat your dog for heartworms, please do the humane thing and have her put to sleep. Best of luck to you.

Your 3yr old dog is not a puppy anymore and should have been on heart worm preventative years ago. You could check with your local SPCA to see if they could do the surgery and help you with payments or to defray the cost. She may also have so many heart worms at this point that the best thing to do for her is to put her down. She was without heart worm medication for 3 years, I assume. My heart breaks for you and your girl. But our pets are like children and they come with responsibilities like shots and heart worm medicine. I wish you and your "puppy" the best.

once your puppy has heart worms there is only one way to treat and unfortunately it will not just get better. try talking to local animal shelters and orginizations, they may be able to help you take care of vet bills. but this does need to be addressed asap. if all else fails some vet clinics will let you do payment plans. if you got her from a breeder go back to the breeder... but other than that good luck.

call around to some charities. they maybe able to help you out. ask the vet if he can work out some kind of payment plan. go talk to your local animal shelter or rescue center, they have their own vets and may be able to get you the help you need for a lower price. You are a good person..sometimes money keeps us from being able to do the things we want to do. i'm glad you are able to provide her with food shelter and love. i'm sorry money kept you from providing for her health. maybe it's best to put her down, just to keep her from suffering too much.
BTW i think it's sad some stuck up people think only people who aren't poor should have pets. I'd like to see those people provide all the love, and attention to all the pets owned by the poor, as well as the cost for food and toys. pets need to be with who ever can give them the love they deserve, food and shelter. We have HUMANS in the U.S. who can't afford their own medical costs..it's unrealistic to think someone who can't afford a pet's medical cost should not own a pet..*sticks middle finger out at those stuck up people*
Boober....do you REALLY think there are many people who would be willing to take a sick pup like that in? *rolls eyes* Animal rescue and shelters are already WAYY overcrowded, that's why some places still put unadoptable pets to sleep....

That is so sad!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I would say put her down, its the best thing to do. I know you don't want her, but if you love her then don't let her suffer and let her go. It is just the best thing. My BFF had a dog with heart worms and they didn't have the money, but they kept it. It did a painful death, just do what you think is best for your dog!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
