i want a restaurant that is big and has great entertainment

Definitely Serendipity 3!
It's in the East 60s-- their specialty is Frozen Hot Chocolate and the place is really cute.

If you're staying in mid-town, it's a quick cab ride away and worth it.
Enjoy!

Also, if you're in Central Park-- the boathouse is nice for lunch, depending on weather.

For themed restaurants (yuk), you can always go to 57th Street-- you'll find Harley Davidson there, Hard Rock, Planet Hollywood (if it hasn't closed) and a sports restaurant (I think it's about tennis)

ESPN Zone is a good place as well.

As other have said MARS 2112 is a pretty neat place too.

Dave and busters. you can eat, drink, and kids can play arcade games, while u eat/drink! 42nd st between 7th and 8th. right next to apple bees
