Answer to the alphabetical order question in the attached source below (it's a rather complicated explanation).
As for the keyboard order:
When the typewriter was invented, manufacturers were worried that typists would hit the keys faster than the mechanism could deliver the letters to the paper. Thus, to avoid jam-ups, they intentionally made the keyboard radically different from the order of the alphabet to slow down peoples' typing speeds.

As far as alphabetical order, I can not help, except to say search Yahoo for origins of the alphabet.
As far as the keyboard goes - this version of the keyboard (called QWERTY because of the placement of those keys) was created for speed and accuracy. Extensive research was done to determine which letters in the alphabet were used most often and they were put under your strongest fingers and the least used under your weakest fingers (see how it's all rare punctuation and QWZX by the weaker fingers).
This thinking and style of keyboard became increasingly popular as the typing profession was increased, due to the industrial revolution. While the layout of any keyboard configuration could be memorized, none was determined to be more efficient.
Peace!

They are in alphabetical order because there are no numbers in the alphabet to place in numerical order.
Keys on the keyboard are intended to be laid out in frequency of use nearest the "home" position. Turns out that the study on letter frequency was flawed, but the keyboard configuration had enough momentum to continue as is.

The Anglo-Saxons have to have positioned it in its reward order after such a lot of adjustments of the Roman alphabet, who in flip had followed it from the Greeks, who additionally had followed it from the Phoenicians. It is alleged that the reward structure was once converted within the 18th century.

The alphabet really should be in chronological order! Right?
The keyboard is arranged so the most used letters are easiest to reach.

abcdefghijklmnopqrstuvwxyz the keys on a keyboard arent in order because when the maker of the type writer put them in order the type writer would jam so he placed them like how they are now so the type writer wouldnt jam so we never changed it
