The other day I noticed that my 7 year old daughter had body odor. It is not an everyday thing. What type should I buy her?

Wow......this question hit home.....WHY......because we have a 13 year old who comes over on Saturday afternoons and plays with our 7 year old.......so we can get things done around the house and run errands and such.

Last Saturday she had the WORST Body Odor I had ever smelled. I commented to my husband and.....of course he agreed but ran outside before I could put him in ANY situation.

I ended up....telling her.....with no problem at all. She explained that with 3 woman in the house......(her, her mom and her sister....Single mom).....that deodorant, maxipads and other things were a valuable commodity.

My husband left the house and came back with about 12 deodorants, 5 different kinds of feminine protection, shampoo, and body spray. He wasn't trying to be rude.....far from it.....he was sad that they hadn't come to us with their simplest of needs.....her mom was more worried about paying the electricity and putting food on the table. Big wake up call for us!

I got off course BUT.........I make my 7 year old put on deodorant everyday........just in case.

Peace

When children start to have body odors age isn't a factor. Take her to the drugstore and let her pick a deodorant for teenagers. They come in cute containers. Then I would start to be aware because she'll probably have her first period in another year or two.

If you feel that you must, although regular bathing should solve body odor, get her something like Toms of Maine or a natural deodorant. It is not good for growing children to use adult brands with the chemicals used in them.

This is not uncommon but body odor in younger kids normally comes from diet. Starchy foods, junk foods, soda, stuff like that. Change her diet to more healthy foods like greens, things enriched with vitamins, carrots, appled, oranges. You literally are what you eat. This will not change the body odor however it will calm it down.In the meantime, I would buy your daughter whatever deoderant you use. Please don't use anything cheap, use something like Secret.

I have one son who stunk at 7 (at now at 11 is developing armpit hair). My 13 year old son rarely if ever smells except his feet. I agree that Teen Spirit will make her feel grown up and help to establish a good habit. Boys may think it's cool and funny to have BO, but girls won't.

The earlier you start them, the easier it will be for them to get used to using it... Kind of like taking vitamins. I started young because I saw my mom using it and I wanted to be like her. At a young age, I always used Teen Spirit. I think it is a good smelling deodorant for younger girls.

Buy her a deodorant with a neutral PH as she is still too young for the normal deodorants

My daughter is 5 years old and when she was outside playing I smelled her and I couldn't believe it but I went ahead and cleaned her off and put Dove and that smells better and it has moisturizing. You have to buy sensitive skin deodorant. I asked my nurse practitioner about it and she said Dove Fresh is better.

My son who is 8 had to start using deodarant.....his BO was starting to knock us out....lol....I had to start wearing it at 7 myself......just dont go get ones like Degree or anything like that....that would be too strong for her....get her Teen Spirit....or something softer.....make sure she puts it on EVERYDAY to develop the habit....wether she needs it or not.....
