I am taking it you are referring to a man/woman relationship. The best relationships in that respect is RESPECT. And communication. You have to have open lines of dialog even if it is against something you like. You have to be able to oppose or decent without getting personal or nasty and fighting like dogs over a bone. A good relationship has to have a functioning work ability. Both sides have to complement the other. And they don't have to be mirrors of the same side(as most make the mistake of expecting. A relationship is in a way like a lock with a key. The key has a different function than a lock, and the lock is different than the key. But together they have a strong function. You have two locks and no key, or two keys and no locks it is as useless as having nothing at all. A relation in which one is the key, and the other the lock is what works best because they have to be a team. Also realizing that your woman or your man IS YOURS. And you treat them with respect and if you value them. Treat them as you would your best vehicle. Never allow anyone to tear them down. Damage them. Give them lots of attention and care. And be honest. Don't lie to them. To lie is a disrespect that says you think they are stupid enough to fall for the lie and not important enough to be told the truth. That is the main nucleus of a good relationship.

One in which there's a good match of both appetites AND values. Everybody has values - things that are important to one's self-expression or self-actualization, right? And everybody's are a little different, and sometimes those little differences are accentuated in really important ways. Similarly, everybody has appetites - things we hunger for or things we want to satisfy cravings and urges.
Although we often confuse values and appetites, eventually, if we're smart, we'll figure out what ours really are, and what the difference is. Appetites, generally, are more transient (in other words, shorter-lasting, and subject to more change) than values.
Having a good match of appetites, but not values, might give you a relationship that's a lot of fun, but that probably won't last. Having an imbalance of appetites will cause problems. So really, a "good" relationship starts with a good alignment of both values and appetites.

If you are talking about a romantic relationship, then I think "a good relationship" is a relationship in which there is mutual respect and understanding for each other's desires, hopes, fears, personality and problems.
A perfect relationship is one in which both partners are seen and respected as persons, and where trust is completely shared by both, where the two partners have compatible personalities, and similar ideals and projects for their lives.
To me, perfect relationships are those in which both partners are not only lovers, but also best friends.
