Why is the age for air national gaurd 35 and army national guard 39

Because they are 2 separate branches with different enlistment criteria.

Like a previous answerer stated they are two different branches of service. Also the Army Guard has a need for more people than the Air Guard does due to their commitments overseas and at home.

They use the same criteria for their parent service the Army and Air Force Respectively.
