What is the best home remedy for a dog with an ear infection? I've heard Hydrogen Peroxide works but I'm not sure, and its Sunday so my vet's office is closed. Anything that will at least relieve his symptoms until I can get him to the vet tomorrow?

for the pain, put a cup of salt in the microwave for 2-3 minutes. use coarse salt and dump it into a thick sock apply the sock to the painful ear & it draws fluid out of the ear. get a washcloth full of hot water and wring it out. hold this onto the ear until it cools the moist heat will increase the circulation in the ear, thereby reduceing swelling and pain

No, the peroxide can be used to clean the ear, but it will not relieve the infection. For pain relief you CAN give the dog a baby aspirin (81 mg), every 6 hours. It's hard on their stomach, so give them food with it. Take him first thing monday morning.

For my cat, who has chronic ear infections, I mix up some warm water and iodine. about 1 tablespoon iodine in 1/2 cup warm water. Then take him outside (or in the shower or bathtub) and pour some in his ear. He'll shake it out, so don't wear anything you won't mind getting stained.
Also spend lots of time with him and you can put your finger wrapped in a washcloth or something, and stick it in his ear. Just gently rub the inside. He might really like that.
Hydrogen Peroxide sounds too harsh.

you must have an emergency number for your vet. Call them. Don't try anything on your own. You might do more harm that what he is going through.
