hubby is in national guard and just came home from a 1 year deployment in Iraq. Once home we found ourselves in a major money emergency with a 1 and 2 year old to take care of. Because hubby isnt active duty we couldnt even get help from the American Red Cross. How is it that the national guard can put there lives on the line just like the active duty members but get treated like crap by the government?

There is a big double standard between the Reserve and Active component in the Army but we are working on that.
The red cross is not part of the government so they make their own rules so I don't know why they couldn't help you.
That is the main down side to the reserve component, once you are back from deployment you have to get a job, but that is kinda the point of the reserves.

As far as pay goes they make the same amount while on active duty. Remember once a unit is called up, it is now on active duty so the benfits are the same. Your husband should have been able to return to his civilian job without any interference from that company. If he could not, then you can sue the company.

Kennedy called me back as a filler for the National Guard. I had to pay my transportation to Ft Irvin CA. I recieved NO MONEY for 7 months. I had a wife small baby and we were kept alive by my family . John Kennedy had no plans to pay us. Talk about being unprepared. Bush has it together compared to Kennedy in 1961. We had nothing to train with either. Castro would have kicked our asses. The Guard is treated like sh*t. oe Was by Kennedy.
