I offered my dogs food, he said that his dog finds it when he wants, if he's hungry. That he had part of a burger from McDonalds....I was very upset and told him to get lost. Why or how could you ever let a dog fend for his own, geesh, he's 35 and should know better. Am I out of line?

Your friend likes to think that his dog is a wild animal who hunts and kills and can fend for itself. The fact that dogs have been domesticated since people lived in caves means nothing to him. The fact that his dog will not get the required nutrition to lead a long and healthy life is of no concern. Having a dog which is wilder than anyone else's agrees with his view of himself -- he's a MAN. If he treats a being dependent on him that way, think about how he treats his human friends. Scary, h uh?

You are not out of line at all. If that were my friend I would call the SPCA or some other organization to take the dog away and find a GOOD home for it!

You could sit him down and explain how the changing of a dog's diet can upset his stomach. Even if the dog doesn't have diarrhea or throw up, he can still be feeling bad.
If he cares at all, maybe he'll change.

That's crazy. I agree with you, at any age if your not prepared to take care of a pet you shouldn't have one. Even the hippies had dog food before they had their own food.

No, you're not out of line, he should be ashamed of himself! If it's his dog, he should be the one to feed, bathe, play with, and take care of his own dog. And if his dog dies and starts blaming other people, say it in his face that it's his own fault that his dog died!!!

It's called animal abuse. The guy should not have a pet. He should give the dog to someone who truly cares and appreciates animals. Why does he have it if he doesn't care?

No you are not out of line at all - he doesn't deserve the honour of having a pet!

I am with you. Pet ownership is a servitude. If anyone does not take care of there pet they have no business owning one.

You aren't out of line. He's irresponsible and shouldn't have any animal, let alone "mans' best friend".
