The house is built at the North pole therefore all Walls face South. The pear that approaches the house has black skin and hair strands that are hollow and internally reflect light. Thus the bear has the appearance of looking white.
I loving call them Polar bears.

second thoughts.....maybe bear is brown -
it's a teddy who snuck out from Santa's workshop......or maybe it's PINK or YELLOW - or ANY colour that a child might ask Santa to bring them a bear in.............;o)
