It really just depends on the people there is not set time frame. My husband and I knew each other for a little over a year an a half before we got married and I was 19 and he was 20.

My mother and father were only together 3 months before they got married I'm not sure how old they were.

So I mean there is not set age or time frame it just depends on the people and how much they love each other and if they are ready to spend the rest of their lives with that person.

Age is not relevant notwithstanding the minimum legal age in your area. Maturity is what matters. Some people are mature enough at 18 and others will never be mature enough to undertake marriage. As far as how long should you know the guy I think a better question would be "How well do you know the guy?". You need to know him well enough to determine your compatibility and you need to know him well enough to ensure that there won't be any unpleasant surprises in your future!! If he wants to live in the country and you want to live in the city, he wants 6 kids and you don't want any, you like cats and he likes dogs, etc you're likely entering into a marriage that's headed for trouble. I'm not Catholic but the Catholic church used to have a group program called a "Pre-marriage Encounter Weekend" that was really helpful in determining compatibility. I'd suggest checking that out. They used to have somewhat limited space available for non Catholics but it was possible to participate even if you aren't Catholic. I know a couple who went and decided they shouldn't get married. The were able to avoid a marriage that would have been hell on earth and even remain good friends. good luck to you!

Well me and my guy kinda new each other in high school and met up we were together a year before he purposed and we have decided on a long engagement because we are both so young. But my parents met and got married within 3 months of knowing each other and they've been happily married for 16 years now so I think it's all a matter of when you both think your ready when it's the right person it won't matter how long you wait!

Years ago, a girl could get married at age 13. So, the world has changed somewhat. Age should not be your factor, unless you are still living at home and your parents play a significant part in your decision making(s). Getting married is exciting. Do not place age as the priority of marriage. Love should be the first priority.

I would strongly recommend waiting until you are at least 25 before getting married. And I'd strongly recommend you date a minimum of two years before becoming engaged. Getting married before 25 is not a good idea for most people because they are still maturing at a great rate till then, and two years is needed to really know your partner.

Legal age in most places are 18 or 21. But how long you know the person well it all depends.
I was dating my boyfriend for 9 years before we got married.

It all depends.

But I would suggest a minimum of 2 years of dating before marriage, and I would suggest that both people be at least 20 years old. There's less stigma when you're not married in your teens.

I've been with my boyfriend for almost 4 years and living with him for 2 and a half years and I still don't think we are ready for marriage, probably will never get married, but we are very happy together. NEVER be in any rush to get married!

According to most of the people who ask the questions on this Yahoo Answer forum the answer is:

12 to get married

1 hour to know the guy

Of course that may be stretching it a bit, it could possible be 14 and 2 hours, but who knows.

old enough to understand the commitment that marriage entails, that it is not a game it is a sacred union. I would say to be engaged 6 months to a year before getting married.
