I think people see them as a supremicist group. And supremicist groups are no good. "Por La Raza todo, Fuera de La Raza nada" Everything for the Mexican Race, Nothing for outside the Mexican Race. It is saying that they believe that if you are not Mexican than you are not deserving. I disagree with that. I am white and my husband Mexican (from Mexico) and there is never a way that I could agree with that, and neither would he. Cant we all just get along?

Oh latino THIS. Pick a country. 'MEChA' is nothing less than instituionalized racism, chicano etc etc etc is just rhetoric that eventually ends up with 'we want our land back', this is the indian thing all over again. Drop it like it was hot. It's bad juju, and if they keep hyping it eventually there'll be a HUGE backlash that's gonna wipe out what progress has been made in reforming mexico and selling OUR country on the idea that it's meritorious to consider even TRYING to help em anymore. I'm all for a border fence, and those that have moved north to sit down and have a good hard THINK about what country it is they consider 'home', at the end of the day. They don't have the klan anymore, so they need to bury mecha in the grave next to it.
Finally, YOU may say that 'la raza' doesn't advocate violence, but the problem with 'movements' is that eventually what it comes down to is that they're plottin' on SOMEbody, and in this case it's 'gringos'. For my nickel, that fence can't go in fast enough...and they need to quintuple the number of ICE agents in california, start sendin busloads home that have no legal business in america, put an end to his whole mess, and if that means sending the 'mexican mayor of Los Angeles' with em, so be it. They can start a new city in Mexico, and get Mexico's economy up to snuff so there'll be no need to try and leech off america anymore. My rationale: Mexico is a currently a poverty stricken hole with crime and drugs. My proof: The fact that small armies of people from Mexico have moved north over a short time span. People don't do that when they've got good schools, jobs, and homes for their families. If you really really support latinos, like you say, then you should be all ABOUT advocating reforms in Mexico, where the REAL problem is, not trying to hustle america for another 50 bucks. Nothing personal, but we've let this one go for too long...and it needs to be changed.

I just read the other post that says this mecha thing has a chapter at an american high school. It's time for the PTA and city council there to ACT on that. No official state sponsorship nor tolerance toward a known pro-hispanic racist organization. Not in an american school, start deporting these people already. If our hispanic attorney general doesn't support it, then deport him, too. Have done with this, already. Get em out.

The Constitution of MEChA is dedicated to 'returning' Aztlan (that is the 'A' in MEChA) to those of Mexican descent. Those of us who are Americans, including those Americans descended from the Mexicans who were once on the land when it was part of Mexico, consider that goal unacceptable.

Aztlan, as I understand it, corresponds to California, Arizona, Texas and New Mexico, roughly.

Did I get that wrong?

What's funny is that the Aztlan web page is so problematic, Yahoo doesn't even let you cut and paste it here! You try.

However, I think your last statement, in Spanish, pretty well gives an idea of why we don't like it.

Because their heads are skewed on wrong, and they live in the past, they can't get back what doesn't belong to them, they want to take over the government, their to stupid to realize no matter how many Mexicans they get into government, their going to end up like everybody else getting paid by special interest groups to do their biding, And our government is set up so that not one person or group of people, would be able to take over the government, their are to many safe guards, just look at the politicians that have been prosecuted in the past, for taking bribes and racketeering. besides they would need a bigger military then we have now, to accomplish that.

I dont have the finger power to even begin to tell you....so here is an exerpt:

In the midst of recent events of terrorism the country has become increasingly anti-terrorist. While the focus has been on terrorism abroad acknowledgement to those existing in the United States have been ignored. Currently, junior high schools, high schools, and universities are harboring anti-American organizations, namely MEChA.

MEChA was first organized in 1969 at the University of California, Santa Barbara. The sole purpose of the organization is to "liberate" the Chicano population from oppression. While putting on the façade of attempting socioeconomic, educational, and occupational oppression alone, MEChA’s true purpose is to achieve complete political liberation.

At the foundation of MEChA is the concept of Aztlan. Aztlan is roughly defined as the Southwestern states of California, Arizona, New Mexico, Texas, Colorado and Utah. Moviemiento Estudiantil Chicano de Aztlan (MEChA), at the national level, works to infiltrate the educational system to promote their ideals of liberation and revolution.

Taken from MEChA’s own literature, they state, "We are free and sovereign to determine those tasks which are justly called for by our house, our land, the sweat of our brows, and by our hearts. Aztlan belongs to those who plant the seeds, water the fields, and gather the crops and not to the foreign Europeans. We do not recognize capricious frontiers on the bronze continent."

MEChA strongly believes and advocates reclaiming Aztlan for the Chicano population, being that population of indigenous people of the Southwestern United States. They claim that this area defined as Aztlan was "stolen" by the United States, a statement that gives no recognition to the Treaty of Guadalupe Hidalgo wherein the United States paid Mexico 15 million dollars for the land. Through various techniques of lies and propaganda, MEChA has been successful in creating chapters across the country, brainwashing students into believing the United States is a country of racist "gringos" who exploit the Chicano population for greedy capitalist purposes.

Having MEChA on any public school campus directly violates education codes. Section 31835 of the California Educational Code states, "Any use, by any individual, society, group or organization for the commission of any act intended to further any program or movement the purpose of which is to accomplish the overthrow of the government of the U.S or of the state by force, violence or other unlawful means while using school property pursuant to the provisions of this chapter is guilty of a misdemeanor". Furthermore Section 31836 states, "No governing board of a school district shall grant the use of any school property to any person or organization for any use in violation of Section 38135." If Aztlan is to be reclaimed, the US government must be overthrown. Therefore, MEChA directly violates Section 31835 and by having a MEChA chapter on campus, Camarillo High violates Section 31836.

Although the MEChA chapter at Camarillo High may not condone the principles of liberation and revolution that the national MEChA promotes, bearing the name affiliates the campus with an illegal organization, adding empowerment to that organization. The Camarillo High MEChA chapter must contact MEChA at its national level and officially disband themselves. A more appropriate name for the club should be chosen so as to correctly define themselves as a club promoting Chicano culture and history, not liberation and revolution.

Represented here is only a small portion of what MEChA stands for and promotes. More information can be attained at the National MEChA website: http://www.panam.edu/orgs/MEChA/nat.html

The facts prove MEChA to an anti-American organization and as citizens of the United States it is our duty to protect our land and our freedom. The decision is ours whether to take action and eradicate MEChA, or to stand idly by in complicity. I call on the administration and faculty to take action to correct the error of allowing MEChA on our campus, and we as a student body, educate ourselves so this mistake will not repeat itself. May God bless America.
