My 3 yr old daughter is fully potty trained and hasn't had any accidents in the last 9 mos BUT she insists that when we are home i go to the bathroom with her - she goes by herself at daycare. Any suggestions?

Tell her that you'll be happy to go to the bathroom with your little baby. It's too bad she isn't a big girl, because big girls go by themselves.

I would never lable her as being a "baby" or a "big girl" just because she asks you to go with her.

If you feel comfortable, which I'm sure you do because you changed her diapers, then it really shouldn't be an issue.

Most daycares take the children to the bathroom together, and when they have to go other times - there is always supervision. She might be used to the company - no biggie!!

Also being at daycare, she sees less of you. So maybe she is a little scared of leaving your sight..

Whatever the reason, it will pass eventually. Sometimes a step back is needed in order to take two steps forward :)

Just tell her that she can do it by herself. She might go by herself at daycare because she doesn't like people unfamiliar to her to see her going potty. She loves her momma and trusts her, she feels safe with you and wants you there.

My daughter did that until about 3.5 yrs. Then we told her that mommy and daddy go potty by themselves, that she was almost four (almost a big girl) and should go by herself at home too. We spoke about this and then spoke about good touch, bad touch, etc.

She may still be a bit unsure for a while, eventually though, she'll get it.

My friend's son did this too. What she did was go with him, but stood a little bit further away each time, until she was outside the bathroom with the door open. Then the next time, she told him she'd be right outside the door. Next she stayed "in hearing distance." By that time, he was comfortable being by himself.

Good luck to you!

It may be her way of wanting to spend more time with you? I'm jealous though, my 3 year old wants nothing to do with potty training.

Don't make any assumption with this subject.
Ask her why mummy has to be with her.
May be there is something in the bathroom that is scaring her.
You wont know if you don't ask.

Talk to her, tell her that she's a big girl and doesn't need your help anymore.
