I am traveling by train tomorrow and online the luggage guidlines are 28-20-14. My bag is about an inch longer then 28 but is smaller in the other areas. I am carrying the bag on. Do you think I will have a problem with it being to big?

Most companies go by linear which is the l + w + h added together. Also, if you are traveling by train, it won't matter much anyhow since the luggage racks are pretty big and there is also storage areas on each car for larger bags.

Carry on guidelines are made so that luggage can fit in the bins. They set the limits so that everyone will have enough room and for the specific measurements of the bin. If you are in doubt, call Amtrak tonight and speak to reservations. If you give them the specifics, they may be able to advise you. Otherwise, find a smaller bag.

TRains don't pay the same attention to baggage as airlines do. You should not have a problem.
