I am wanting to start dating again but I have no social friends and I don't hang out at bars and clubs. I have tried the internet dating and it just doesn't seem to be working. I hate to go out alone and I am at a loss of how to start...I work with men but they are all married or in serious relationships and I don't want to ask them for help. where does a person start? Any ideas would be helpful

Check out events for single parents in your area--they don't even need to be advertised as mixers or dating events--they could be ways to meet other potential friends who have the same situation as you (need social friends and also to meet men to date.)

Depending on where you live and what you're into, these events could be things like wine tasting parties, white water rafting or nature hikes, guided tours/walks, art gallery openings, game nights, etc. A lot of places have open houses where you can take a free class or a sampling of free classes. At the very least, you might find new interests and new friends.

Stop searching. Honestly, the harder you try, the harder it is. Just prove to yourself you enjoy life alone, and a real woman will see that you're content with yourself and your life, and will want to be a part of it all. Become a social "butterfly". Be willing to spend time going out and just meeting people. Don't try to make everything a "relationship". The best basis for a real start is friends. I met my fiancee in yahoo pool 4 years ago, and I never saw it coming. He was a random name on my computer screen, and I just happened to like his screen name "allyours_2000ca". I started the conversation (jokingly) with "all mine huh?" and now...we are getting married in 6 days (it's now been 4 years).

Just be yourself and enjoy it. You'll find you'lll attract the opposite sex alot more that way. *wink*

pursue your hobbies or things you would like to do

go to a dance class or an art class or a woodwork class or a sporting or community group

you will meet new friends there who think similar to you and who might have other friends - as your network expands you will meet people to date

and you can enjoy developing other friends and hobbies on the way!

Could see if there is a singles group in your area. Try church functions. Also sometimes just enjoying your hobbies you may meet someone.
