I see a lot of opinions of evolution, either claiming its 100% false or 100% true.
I'd say its the best theory we have with the evidence we have. With 10 skulls that morph from ape to man, with similar species on different continents, and with micro-evolution in play everyday...it explains a lot.
BUT
It does NOT explain everything. Its not hard to imagine some amino acids joining to make a protein or two...but to eventually become SO complex! That's hard to believe, even by Darwin's admission.
So, lets not claim one or the other as fact...but merely accept it as the best explanation so far with the evidence that we have. When more becomes available, we can adjust our thoughts.

my son wants : Yes mutations are fact, and enough mutations constitute evolution. Its the origin of life as we know it by evolution that's tougher to grasp.

petez - Where are the millions of fossils period!?! Bodies have a tendency to rot, crumble, etc after a few years. Its hard to keep one around for millions. Like I said, with the evidence we got...

The definition of evolution is changes in genetic code over time, such as mutations (not x-men mutations, just random changes in the genetic code). And this happens. It is visible to us, observing HIV for example. It adapts to the meds of its host and evolves. In the larger scope from our ancestors to modern man, there are certainly pieces of the puzzle missing, but it is the best theory with the evidence we have. Until we have a time machine, this is what I am going with and this is what I teach.

Believe what you wish to believe you are after all you are entitled to but science has fact and evidence on it's side not just conjecture and unfounded/misguided texts (the bible) have you ever played Chinese whispers do you ever get the same answers or statement at the end that is because humans are prone to embellish to cloud fact for a more interesting story.
fiction has more appeal than fact does it not?
which section of a book shop would you find/place the bible?
surely you could not possibly put it along side "The origins of species" could you?
This brings me to another point and sickening betrayal of our future generations i recently discovered that there are some school that are teaching creationism in the science class. teaching creationism as fact this act of such distasteful and appalling malpractice this should not occur. if the church doesn't believe that evolution is the correct path the why are they fearful of it? if they are the "truth" then the don't have anything to worry about would they. We should not be brainwashing our future into not having the basic civil liberty to choose their founding beliefs then where would that lead us. The only apparent or prominent possibility would be like back in medieval times where the church controls the science and blocks or destroys any evidence that was contradictory to the bible.
I used Christianity as an example because i know little about other religions

darwin was not aware of any complex protein molecule or even cell. in that time, cell was just a small piece. now we have come to know that protein cannot be formed by evolution process and mere random chance. THIS IS EVIDENT FACT OF CREATION. but people are still denying this fact when we have obvoius proof of creation.
With 10 skulls that morph from ape to man, with similar species on different continents, cannot be considered as proof. because these can be other creations which are no longer exist.
The theory of evolution claims that the first proteins formed "by chance". Probabilistic calculations, however, show that this is by no means possible. For instance, the probability of the amino acid sequence of a protein made up of 500 amino acids being in the correct order is 1 in 10^950.
10^950 is an incomprehensible figure formed by placing 950 zeros after 1. In mathematics, a probability smaller than 1 over 1050 is considered to be almost impossible.
Even a single protein cannot form by chance, and there are billions of Protein in human body. and there are billions of people here in this world. Calculation would be [ 10^950 x Number of protein molecules in human body x number of people in the world ever existed ]. Can you imagine this figure. The probability that human life can form by chance is nothing but 0.
Finally, the time necessary for the molecule to form was 10^243 billion years. This was far greater than the supposed age of the universe - only about 2 billion years. It was impossible for the universe to have created itself, and for life to randomly form.
The only answer left is that there is creation, and when there is a creation , there is a CREATOR.

EDIT >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>
************************************
Mutations does not disproof Creation.
Evolutionary theory, however, asserts that the genetic information of living things increases over time. For instance, while a very simply structured bacterium comprises of 2,000 different types of proteins, a human's organism has 100,000 types of proteins. Exactly 98,000 new proteins have to be "discovered" for a bacterium to evolve into a human being. It is by no means possible for these protein structures to be produced by mutations, because mutations cannot add anything to a DNA chain.
Not surprisingly, so far, not even a single mutation has been observed to develop the genetic information of any life form. Despite being an evolutionist himself, the Former President of the French Academy of Sciences, Pierre-Paul Grassé, made the following admission: "No matter how numerous they may be, mutations do not produce any kind of evolution."
Pierre-Paul Grassé, Evolution of Living Organisms, Academic Press, New York, 1977, p. 88

I have been raised as a Christian and have always believed in creationism.
Since scientist have tossed out the theory of evolution and the big bang theory, I have learned to accept some of it.
God never told us HOW he created the earth and the heavens. He just said it was so. Big Bang theory IS possible.
God Never told us HOW the animals inhabited the earth, but he did tell us where they inhabited first. The animals of the sea and of the air. So it is possible that animals have evolved from sea creatures to land creatures.
God did tell us that he made man in the likeness of his image. AND Apes/monkeys still do exist therefore I do not think that man evolved from ape.
If science ever accepted creationism, then maybe they can have a real answer...

Some can say you can believe in both. However, it does not wash with me. If the God you are considering dwells in the eternal and is THE Creator, then you should have no problem with His abilities to create as He wills. Only a limited concept of God would have trouble with it. Evolution is nothing to stumble over. Evolution and science are a distration away from what is most important--that being eternal salvation.
Remember this, and never forget. Science is limited to the physical. Your soul is eternal. The Bible deals with what is eternal where science cannot venture. The physical realm will pass away, and science will pass away with it. What you want to do is latch onto that which will last forever, and that is the Word of God.
Matthew 24:35
Jesus said, "Heaven and earth will pass away, but My words will by no means pass away."

I agree with you saying "lets not claim one or the other as fact." Theories are not supposed to be 100% true; a theory is a statement that logically accounts for what IS known, but implies things that are not yet proven. No human knows the complete truth. My own belief is that God is more profound and able than anyone can even imagine, and there is a middle ground where the truth lies. My thought is, does it really matter? Isn't our daily life what really matters, how we live it, how we treat other people?

i agree that it's the best theory we have untill now.
it still does, by far, not explain the origin of the species. and i truly think that we humans are too small to ever explain that in the near future. i think we need to first figure out how big the universe actually is, to understand the first part of the answer to 'where we came from'. but even after that, it will take so much time, discoveries, research to figure out how we came to existence,
in some weird way, it also frightens me. it might very well be true that the moment we discover the start of our existence will also be the end of our existence.

As long as evolution is taught in Science and Biology classrooms as the best current theory and creation stories stay down the hall in Literature, History, and Comparitive Mythology, then I'm cool with that.

I disagree. I can't accept a theory that directly violates God's Word as anything but false. I refuse to believe a lie just because it has a bit of truth in it. That is, after all, the best way to sell a lie.

10 skulls that evolutionary scientists "claim" to have morphed from ape to man does not qualify a theory.
If evolution were true, where are the thousands, yea millions, of transitional fossils of all life forms that should be popping up everywhere?
