Scrub the potato well
Do not wrap in foil!
350 for ~55 minutes, about halfway through puncture with fork a bunch of times to release moisture and allow the inside to cook.

They are easy. You can do them in the oven or microwave! In the oven preheat to 350 degrees. Take a fork and poke several holes in the potato, and then place on oven rack. Bake for about an hour or until it feels tender when poked. The holes help the steam come out of the potato. You can also wrap them in foil and do the same way.
In the microwave, poke them also with a fork and put on a paper towel. Some microwaves have a baked potato button! Try about 3 minutes at first!
The oven method is better, but you can do the microwave if you are pressed for time. Also, the setting is high!
Enjoy! Hope this helps!

Scrub potatoes and dry with paper towel. Cut an X i the top about a half inch each way. Grease well with butter. In oven bake at 350 for about 50 to 60 minutes. Or using same instructions use full power in microwave, 5 to 7 minutes for one potato. More time added for each additional. Potatoes are done when fork tender. If done in a microwave, they will continue to cook after you take them out. Pinch where you cut the X. Gives you a nice place to add your favorite topping. Don't forget the X or at least pierce with a fork, because potato cooks faster than the skin and you'll have a mess to clean up when the potato burst of of the skin.

Cooking time depends on the size of the potatoes.
Generally you should cook at 350 degrees. At least for 30-40 minutes. You should poke holes in the potatoes before you plaace them in the oven. Now, you can rub them down in oil if you want. If you want a rougher skinned potato do not use oil. Using oil makes the skin tender. Stay away from the microwave, you will regret it. You should head to foodtv.com. You will find help there, as well as all types of baked potato recipies.

First I scrub the potatoes well. Then I slash an X on the top and place them X side up on a greased baking sheet. Add a dab of butter on the X. The baking sheet goes into the hot oven (meaning it should be preheated for about 10 mins) at 375 degrees. I leave it in for about an hour or until the potatoes get soft...whichever one comes first. Hope this helps.

Preheat your oven to 350. Scrub your potatoes and poke holes with a knife over the surface. Not too many or the potato will fall apart in the baking process. Rub olive oil over them and sprinkle with salt. Bake in the preheated oven anywhere between 30 to 60 minutes, depending on size. The spuds are done when they can be easily pierced with a knife. If you don't like crispy skins then wrap in foil and bake as directed.

Let me know how they came out. Enjoy!

I place a piece of foil on the rack and plce the rack in the middle of the oven. Set temperature for 400 degrees and place my potatoes on the foil about 2 inches apart. Bake potatoes for about 20 minutes and then prick them with a toothpick to test doneness. If toothpick does not enter potatoe easily turn each over and bake another 20 minutes and prick them again. If they are not done, turn them over again and try 10 minutes more of baking. They should be done. I don't use the fork method as you let too much of the potatoe mosture escape.

This is what I do:

Conventional Oven:
1. Pre-heat oven to 350.
2. Make a small cut in the potato skin or poke once or twice with a fork. (Lets steam escape.)
3. (Optional) Spread butter over the potato.
4. Wrap in aluminium foil.
5. Put Potatos on center rack if possible.
6. Bake for 1 hour.

Same directions work on a covered grill but cook time may vary based on ability to control the heat. But even if the heat is a little higher it still good to cook them for about an hour.

Microwave. (almost never use this because I like them baked but)
1. Make a small cut in the potato skin or poke once or twice with a fork.
2. Place potatos on layer of paper towel no less that 1/2 inch apart.
3. Cook on high per chart below:
# of Potatos....Minutes
..........1............4-6
..........2............6-8
..........3............8-10
..........4..........12-14
..........5..........14-16
..........6..........16-18
4. When done wrap in aluminium foil for 5 minutes prior to serving.

Hope this helps.

Saw your question and I will give it a try.....My personnel preference is to just put clean/washed potatoes in your microwave oven.....DO NOT WRAP POTATOES IN ALUMINUM FOIL IN THE MICROWAVE! Remember to poke holes into the potato skin with a fork. This way they steam from the inside and after about 4-5 minutes on high......check the potato for tenderness.....then you are ready!

If you want to oven bake them? again clean/wash the potatoesss. Remember to poke holes into the potato skins with a fork. If you are eating healthy? stay away from the oils and butters and wrap your potatoes in aluminum foil, set your oven approx. to 350-400 degrees and set your timer for 30-45 minutes. Again you will have to open the foil and check a potatoe for tenderness

I hope this helps......again times and temps are approximate and you will have to test while cooking! Also try a little Ranch Dressing in the potatoe after it is done.....or your fav dressing. Enjoy! GeorgiaHyway

400 degrees for 45-60 minutes for a good sized potato. Potatoes are resilient though and you can cook a little longer on a lower heat if you like. Be sure to wrap in foil. You should be able to squish it slightly in your hand (oven mitt please!) and a fork should go in easily. To microwave you need to jab a few times with a fork and either cover it with saran wrap and put some water in with it in a bowl OR wrap in a soaked paper towel and just set inside. Nuke for about 8 minutes and check. Again a fork should go in easily but it shouldn't be shriveled. Shriveled is cooked too much and nothing is worse than a microwaved poato that is cooked too much. Yuk! If it needs to be more cooked cook for just a mintue at a time until done.

Wash potato under cold water. Prick potatoes with a fork or knife before baking to shorten the baking time and to keep them from bursting. Bake at 400° F for about one hour, or until tender. Turn the potatoes over halfway through the baking time to prevent browning of the undersides.
