How do the Jockeys get paid? By the win, place and show? By riding? Or by winning only? And for the same matter, what about the owner and trainer and staff? But, my main question is about the jockeys payment. If the horse finishes last, does the jockey get paid anyway?

The lowest a jockey can be paid to ride a horse is 50 bucks. but that's usually at your lower-end tracks. and the jockey gets 10 percent of the winnings if the jockey gets any winnings that is. but then the rider has to pay his or her agent, who got them the ride. so this is why jockeys ride atleast 4 races on average per racing day. they need the rent money, and they need to make sure if they don't win, that they can still survive.

hope this answers you Q

Jockeys get 10% of the owners share. If a race has a purse of $100,000, the share to the winning owner would be $60,000. The jockey would get $6,000. Jockeys that finish 5th. through last get paid a flat fee.

Jockeys get a salary and a precentage base on contractual agreement between the owner and the jockey. There is actually a union of sorts, but these days most are simply contracted
