After all we are only human and obviously we make mistakes. Plus, although I know the Bible is the word of God it was still technically written by man so maybe they got it wrong. I've heard that the King James Bible is different from most because he changed it to what he wanted people to believe. What do you think?

I'm not saying that it is wrong, and I have Jesus in my life, thank you very much thruth4u. What I'm saying is that we are not perfect, only God is, so what if we are mistaken about a few things that are wriiten in the Good Book?

Anything is possible.
In the old days, only the person at the temple was allowed to interpret the scrolls. The priests each took turns. That's why when John the Baptist's dad was struck dumb, it was a very serious sign from God that something awesome had happened. In the old days, not that many people understood how to read. Everyone was busy making a living hunting fishing and farming. So in order to interpret the scripture, the men who were appointed to interpret them needed to be spiritually and physcially clean. In thought, word and deed, cleanliness is paramount before you even think about picking up that scroll. That's why the Pharasees were so upset with Jesus. Who did he think he was interpreting the scripture that way? He seemed to usurp their authority, if you didn't take into account that he was God made flesh. And why would they think that of him? The scripture made absolutely no sense. That's why Jesus said things like "the blind leading the blind" because they did not see the scriptures fulfilled before their eyes. The waiting was over.

I think whatever is written by man is to be interpretted by man. I can see whatever visions I see and write about them, and hope that peeps see what I see. I believe that the bible is only a version of one man's "seeing". U might not get the same message I got when I envisioned this "message" but I would have liked to think that others would see things the same way I did.
It is all in the interpretation, how u see it. It is good for some and bad for others.

I think it's best to treat the bible the same way you would treat a book of fables, like Aesop's or the Brothers Grimm. The bible is full of parables, stories that can be used to teach and learn lessons about how a 'good' person should life their life.

When people start treating the bible as a completely factual and literal account of events that actually occurred, that's when they cross the line from biblical scholars to certified nutjobs.

Hope this helps.

It is not only likely, it is highly probable since there are literally tens of thousands of different interpretations.

And, the bible was "written" and compiled by liars, so even if you interpret it "correctly," you are still wrong.

But, to each his own.

Here is real wisdom:

A person who truly believes in God needs no book, preacher, priest, church, spiritual advisor or any other mediator between him and God.

Fact.

I dont know about you but I have a 3,500 year tradition on how to interpret the Bible and understand what it says.

for example eye for an eye

actually stands for a complicated set of four monetary compensations that are to be paid to the victim. Lost wages, medical bills, pain and emotional trauma

I love this question because it's what I've been asking since I was a little girl.

Yes, I do think that the Bible is misinterpreted and misunderstood.

Well, let's see now. It's a translation of a translation of a translation of a translation of a copy of a copy of a copy of a copy of an oral history passed down through forty generations, AND kings can do whatever they durned well please so, yeah, I'd say there's a chance that we don't know what the sam hill we're talking about when we talk about the bible.

I think that is a dangerous position to take. If you would like a list of reasons to believe the Bible, I will be happy to provide that for you.

exactly now you have got right

bible is not the word of God, its the work of man. and man is prone to error. bible does not says that its the word of God. the word bible is not in the bible. and if it is inspired by God , then why does it has errors.
the people like paul and john played greated role in changing the teachings of Jesus.
secondly, the whole christianity is based on some mere verses which can be interpreted in several ways. e.g. John 10:30 says that I am my father are one

If you read the context, the earlier verses (John 10:28-29) says that no man can pluck these people (the followers of Jesus pbuh) from his hand. No man can pluck them out of my fathers hand, that means God's hand.
Then John 10:30 says that I am my father are one.

If you read the context it means the plucking in purpose.

same way other verses can be interpreted in plenty of different ways.

there are plenty of versions of bible, kjv teaches trinity in 1 john 5:7 and other version has removed this verse. e.g. RSV, good news bible. etc. this is the only verse regarding trinity. now the whole christian theology changes just by going to different version of bible.

you should refer to the teachings of Jesus , not the paul ,john or any one else.

The point is that jesus never said he is God. There is not a single unequivocal statement in the entire Bible where Jesus (peace be upon him) himself says, "I am God" or where he says, "worship me".
Jesus never preached trinity, Jesus never preached to believe that he will die for the sins of mankind, No earlier prophet preached that too. These are the preachings who wrote the bible several years after the departure of Jesus. e.g. John ,paul. etc

"Christ the son of Mary was no more than an Messenger; many were the Messengers that passed away before him. His mother was a woman of truth. They had both to eat their (daily) food. See how Allah doth make His signs clear to them; yet see in what ways they are deluded away from the truth!" QURAN (5:75)

QURAN SPEAKS ABOUT THE BIRTH OF JESUS PBUH IN (Chapter 3: verse 45-47)

"Behold! the angels said: "O Mary! Allah giveth thee glad tidings of a Word from Him: his name will be Christ Jesus, the son of Mary, held in honour in this world and the Hereafter and of (the company of) those nearest to Allah.
"He shall speak to the people in childhood and in maturity. And he shall be (of the company) of the righteous."
She said: "O my Lord! How shall I have a son when no man hath touched me?" He said: "Even so: Allah createth what He willeth: When He hath decreed a plan, He but saith to it, 'Be,' and it is!"
===================

REFER TO QURAN TO KNOW ABOUT REAL JESUS. BECAUSE ITS THE EXACT WORD OF GOD WITHOUT BEING INTERPOLATED BY MAN. SINCE 1400 YEARS. AND I INVITE YOU TO STUDY ISLAM WHICH TEACHES TO RESPECT AND LOVE JESUS (PEACE BE UPON HIM ) and makes it an article to believe in gospel of Jesus.

Please remember, God does not beat around the bush. he will not ask us to believe on mere interpretations because Bible, 1 Corinthians 14:33 says that "For God is not [the author] of confusion". So, if God's nature is not one of confusion, then it should not be necessary to command us to simply "have faith" in the Trinity because it is a "mystery."

God speaks in direct way.

HOPE THIS ANSWERS.
