magazines, gum, candies (no chocolate, it would melt), wipies (those are lifesavers...they can cool you down a little and can clean your hair in one quick swipe), a deck of cards, books, nothing too valuable because they can be "lost" during shipment.

We are British so I am not sure if the same rules apply but I used to keep a shoe box (which was roughly the maximum size allowed) on a table at home and drop things into it as I thought of them.I would then mail it on Friday. I included:a voice tape (you can buy dictaphones really cheaply & if you both have one you can record and send tapes to each other), clean hankies, because YOU have ironed them and they therefore smell of home, underwear, a little wrapped gift for him to keep until his birthday or Christmas (then he has a pile to open), cuttings of things I thought might interest him from Newspapers, Immodium as they ALL get stomach upsets at some point, photographs of friends and family, sometimes a book and things like nuts or crisps which won't perish. They can get most of what they need there but I know he treasured his boxes and it helped me to stay connected to him to fill them. You should get to speak to him and we emailed and/or, wrote every day, although don't panic if you don't hear from him, you will probably get twenty letters at once and comms are cut off for all sorts of reasons. As you are his Girlfriend you probably haven't been through many Op.Tours before, please know that there are many of us who understand exactly what you are going through and that if you stay cheerful for him he will love you all the more for it.

I always have a lot of fun getting together packages to send my husband. I send him videos and pictures and A LOT of movies. Some of the guys also like to get hunting magazines or any magazine for that matter. I always include a hand written letter. He says that is always his favorite part. If you are looking for something fun to send him, go to a store that sells gag gifts. I have found tons of fun things there to send over. It always gives the guys a good laugh too.

when hubby was in Iraq id send pics, letters, cookies, books, personal care products so he didnt have to bye them. Things you are not alowed to put in the mail however are things such as cans, or liquids of any type (can leak), nothing preasurised such as room sprays. You may also want to send him disposable camras, this way he can take pics over there, send them home and you could develop them or he could develop them there. I also sent hubby a cheap plastic pitcher , plastic spoon, and packets of cool aid. you can even get the big tubs of pre sweetend powderd drinks so he can have drinks in hes room.

A suggestive letter and photo.
In a package I would send what ever kind of stuff would remind him of home, they have availability to get anything that you could send him now (depending on where he is) so I would just send him stuff to remind him of home and you.

Anything that might make him happy! Food, because he might miss the food that he used to eat, some candy's, and as the other answerer said nothing that needs to be heated! And also something that will make his day, a warm word would do good for him! God Bless him and you too!
