I've used "Would it be hateful...", and I just saw a very rude one with (Not to be rude). So which format takes away the sting of a horrid question for you?

I prefer Socratic Method. Don't state, question.

For example, if you think the bible is BS...start with why you think so:

"Who wrote Genesis?"

or

"Who included it into the bible"

"If man decided which books to include, what makes you think it was influenced by God?"...etc, etc.

One of two things will happen, either you'll teach or you'll learn. I've learned several things I did not know by questioning instead of stating what I believe to be true. I've also had people re-evaluate their own beliefs.

astonishingly rude questions????? me ?????????

i usually play the 'i don't really know it exactly, so please help me' card.

like "does anybody know the % of christian men that condemn homosexuality and watch lesbian porn"....i just try to not give an opinion, yet act like i'm a little stupid. which actually maybe i am :)

i loved the 'would it be hateful...' though, i even stole it once, sorry..

but sometimes i'm just to plain pissed to think about the format, and then i just fire away.

i try and use humor. it's hard to appear rude when making others laugh. sometimes i just say f it and just plain get rude. a lot depends on the amount of coffee i have or the lack there of.

"Sincere question."

"I am seeking sincere answers."

"I am asking a blunt / sensitive / potentially-offensive question, and would like sincere answers as I seek to understand __ better."

I have used the above before here, elsewhere, and in private emails, especially if I wanted to know about something that is potentially explosive, like questions about race or a certain racial behavior. I tell you, girl, my curiosity has gotten me into deep ca-ca at times! ;-)

ask Jesus into your life and be born again by the power of the Gospel (an actual real life event in your real life) if you do this in a prayer sincerely God will answer you!

I've seen this formula several times, I call it The Head-Shaker Speaks, or More In Sorrow Than In Anger:

"AUDIENCE HERE: why oh why oh why do you INEXPLICABLE BEHAVIOR HERE?"

Kind of annoying, actually.

When people say "not to be rude" I think it makes their question seem more obnoxious.

I like to read "F#ck the handicapped" before I read the actual question.
