It's the alcohol

Because you are using a substance to artificially fill a void that can only be filled with the presence of God. But you can be filled with the Holy Spirit and it will surpass any high you had in the past, with some additional benefits - it's free, you don't "come down", you don't det depressed during or after, you can't get arrested for it (yet), and you will have not only joy, but peace beyond understanding, even when things aren't going well.
AA is not the answer. They will tell you, "once an alcoholic, always an alcoholic". This may be true in the natural realm, but I can tell you from experience that I am no longer an alcoholic.

Alcohol is a depressant. Also, you could be aware that there is a deeper problem and you are feeling guilty the next day for having gone and gotten drunk again. When there is aproblem associated with alcohol, there is usually alcoholism. How often are getting drunk? Itmay be time to give up drinking. Think about it - you may need AA. Are you getting into trouble? Or making poor or dangerous choices?

Alcohol, just like any kind of street drug, makes us feel euphoria while we are ingesting them. For a little while we feel ontop of the world!! But as the drug or booze wears off it often leaves us to feeling depressed. How long have you been drinking? Days? Months? Years? Why are you drinking alcohol in the first place? Are you trying to cover up your true feelings? Is your life a mess? Did something happen to you in your childhood? If you answered these questions with a yes, you need to make a appointment with your doctor and tell him or her what your problems are.

That is, if you trully want help. Your doctor may suggest you to go for counseling for your issues in life and perhaps suggest you to seek help with your addiction to alcohol too.

If you trully want to change your life to the better only you can do this. No one can make this choice but you.

Good luck to you and I hope you make the right choice for yourself!
