I mean we are spirits on this earth for awhile. I thought religious people would get that. Life is a game, play by the rules, but enjoy the ride. I have had Christian people give me a shocked look or ask 'do you REALLY feel that?' if I make a sacriligious joke or just in general laugh at my problems instead of 'taking it to god'. I mean life is short, and if you really are just a spirit in a body for awhile, then just laugh at lifes quirks. So why are religious people often the serious ones that are so worried about others or themselves doing the 'wrong' thing? And why do they deny that they are serious, when I am the one that's having fun and at peace while they are the ones crying and repenting?

I am a very faithful Christian, not a religious Christian, as my relationship with Christ is personal and not through a religious organization. I laugh every day with joy at all that comes my way both good and bad, sad and sorrow. I still have human emotions. I am not sacriligious and do not crack such jokes, and I am serious when I need to be, but being a Christian has liberated me from the confines of this fleshly worry and has freed me to enjoy this life and to be a joyful witness. That might surprise you if you saw me - so, let me share just a little - I had a stroke a year ago, they found a brain tumor, because they didn't stop the stroke,(had a new computer system they had to get me into first), I now have epileptic seizures and we're still trying to get them under control and can't - may have 4 to 5 a day - so as not to be a burden to my family or to harm myself or others, I'm pretty much homebound, but I have been free from depression, since this has happened, because it became so real to me how this flesh will pass, but my soul is going home to Jesus! Now that's liberation! It doesn't mean I can be flippant, for I must still be about the father's work, it just means I must remember my priorities.

I can answer this one from a personal point of view.If we are not careful we go to church so much(3xa week)that becomes your life. Then you get caught up with all the good works.Helping on some committee. Our preacher actually preached from the pulpit to pray an hour upon rising each morn.I would get up late and feel my whole day was ruined. Therefore I became caught up in legalism. You have to do this, you have to do that. Now,years later of forgiving myself and living my life to the fullest,I pray when someone comes to mind.for example.I woke up at 3:45 the other morning and my son was on my mind so i began to pray the scripture for him.I do not go to church nor do I think I ever will.(I have gone to church for 35 yrs.)I am no longer uptight or take myself so seriously and I like myself so much better.I take life as it comes with the attitude that I will get through this the best I can and that is all that is required of me this moment.
sorry, this is so long but I had to type this.

Any child of God that is trying to do his/her best living up to the will of God has every reason in the world to be happy and enjoy life.
Man made religion on the other hand has so many rules and sets such a burden upon you that being scared to death is often mistaken for being serious.
God loves His children and you are forgiven.
Don't sin and when you do confess it, but live life.

the only reason for which they're so serious about all that is because we're not supposed to have fun while we're alive BUT INSTEAD we should make the very most of it and ponder SPIRITUAL ISSUES as well as enjoying life. The main problem, though, is that you CAN'T control your eternal destiny and since we are sinners we are destined to be separated from GOD who is the only source of happiness; accordingly you have to 'take it to God' or else you will not get into heaven... AND THAT'S NO JOKE

You must have met up with some pretty sad Christians.

Lighten up and enjoy the life God gave you. Keep in mind, you're eternal life is a serious matter also.

I agree that some people are too serious. Fire and brimstone this, fire and brimstone that.

Seriously, I think God has a sense of humor. I mean, COME ON, look at the platypus! And the dodo. And George Bush! God has a sense of humor. Learn to laugh at the jokes people!

I totally agree with you. God gave us the gift of life to enjoy, not to waste time worrying and nitpicking over details.

By worrying over every little thing you are actually showing your disbelief in God, as you are not trusting that the Lord loves you and will always be there for you.

Because religious is a serious business. This is not something for granted.
It needs hard working and sincerity.

Did you ever stop and think that if it weren't for these Christians holding back evil, you may have already been recycled by now?

LOL. Touche!

That's why I love this great saying that goes: "We are not humans having a spiritual experience, but we are spirits having a human experience."

Peace be with you!
