Definitely get prepared to be up at all hours of the night. Get a hospital bag ready about 2 months before going to the hospital; it should contain things for you and baby. Like what you want them to wear home the first day. Get a good camera, you will want to take a lot of pictures, they change so much. Begin baby proofing your home. Make sure mini blind cords are away from your infants bed, this could lead to strangulation when they' re old enough to reach it. Take a lamaze class to help you while you are in labor. Knowing how to breathe is a big plus. Good luck and congratulations!!

Congrats on your pregnancy. First and foremost, be sure to take care of yourself. Your baby's health depends on your health. Try to eat healthy. It's hard, but you can do it. I'm not saying you can't eat hamburgers or anything. Just try to get fruits, veggies and milk in your diet. Be sure to take your prenatal vitamins too. As someone else said, do try to sleep as much as possible while you are pregnant. Your sleep patterns will definitely change once the baby is born. You should also be trying to decide whether you will breastfeed or formula feed. It is ultimately up to you. Breast feeding is not for everyone - I didn't breastfeed. You may also want to decided if your baby will sleep with you or in a crib or bassinett. You will need clothes, a carseat (you have to have a carseat in order to leave the hospital), bottles (you can use bottles even if you breastfeed), a few pacifiers (your baby may not take them - mine didn't), bibs, receiving blankets, etc. Also think about your birth plan - natural or not. But, you must keep in mind that things do not always go as planned. I planned on a vaginal birth with an epidural but, I ended up having an emergency C-section. But, it is important to have a plan...I'm getting a brain fart, but I hope that I have helped some. Good luck!

Are you planning to breastfeed? If so, I really believe that the key to successful breastfeeding is being educated about it. Dr. Sears has a great breastfeeding book and there's lots of good information at the La Leche League website. Breastfeeding may be the most natural thing in the world, but that doesn't mean it's the easiest. Congrats!

Make sure you're as healthy as possible because childbirth itself is physically stressful. Also you will get less sleep because babies don't sleep regularly at first. Try to find out ahead of time if friends and family, etc., can watch the baby for awhile while you get some rest or just plain have time for yourself. If you're lucky enough to have your man around, make sure he knows that while your time is taken up with the baby, you still love and care for him. Try to set aside some time for each other and encourage him to help. Some guys are just plain scared of babies. Let him help with some baby duties. For example, if he's scared of bathing the baby, you help him. That way he'll get practice and won't be so scared to do it himself.

Get some sleep, pack a bag for the hospital, a lot of diapers, baby wipes and formula unless you plan to breastfeed than get a breast pump. Let people know guests are welcome, but mom and baby need their rest. Baby shampoo, soap and lotion. If you have had or will have a baby shower, you'll get a lot of the things you will want or need. Don't forget the baby monitor!!

Make sure you have thousands of Pampers,Onesies, Baby wipes, (things you'll use every day). The last thing you want to worry about when on maternity leave with new baby is the fact that baby's wet and there's only one pamper left.0

Plan on being very patient with your child. Plan on buying lots of supplies (diapers, food, medicine, clothes , toys etc.), Plan on getting less sleep. Plan on giving up some "free" time. Plan on being thrilled and solaced at the same time.
