WBC = white blood count.
You may have a high number of white cells for a lot of different reasons - infection, stress, reaction to medication, or cancer. If you were referred to a hematologist, your doctor may be concerned about leukemia. Get it checked out.

High white blood count WBC makes a Dr suspicious that you might have leukemia or other cancer of the blood. Now they will do further testing to eliminate leukemia as a cause of your elevated WBC. There are many reasons for an elevated WBC besides cancer but in any case your Dr needs to make sure.

A High WBC count can be due to many reasons, including infections and leukemias (cancer of the blood cells). When you have an infection, your WBCs increase to fight the infection. If you have a leukemia, your bone marrow has lost cell cycle control and is producing too many WBCs for no reason.
Hopefully you just have an infection.

You have a high white blood count. A Hemotologist is a person that studies everything about blood. Thru his or her help and you working with this individual(s) they will be able to determine why your white blood count is so high and how to bring it down.
Good luck to you and I hope you feel better soon!
