What is the first and greatest commandment Jesus talked about?
Mat 22:34 But when the Pharisees had heard that he had put the Sadducee's to silence, they were gathered together.
Mat 22:35 Then one of them, [which was] a lawyer, asked [him a question], tempting him, and saying,
Mat 22:36 Master, which [is] the great commandment in the law?
Mat 22:37 Jesus said unto him, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind.
Mat 22:38 This is the first and great commandment.
Mat 22:39 And the second [is] like unto it, Thou shalt love thy neighbor as thyself.
Mat 22:40 On these two commandments hang all the law and the prophets.
Notice that ALL the Law (torah) and the Prophets (every thing else) hangs on these 2 Commands.

Dear Bill,
The first and greatest commandment is to Love our God with all of our heart, soul, and mind (Matthew 22:37; Mark 12:30; Deut 6:5).
The second greatest commandment is to love our neighbors as ourselves.
Cordially,
John

A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another; even as I have loved you, that you also love one another. By this all men will know that you are My disciples, if you have love for one another.
