When I go to send a message to one of my friends only the very first message shows up and then nothing else. What is happening??!!

AIM Triton is just a terrible program. They added so many ads and extra features that no one really uses. And they got rid of many of better functions in the pre-Triton AIM, such as custom buddy icons. On top of that, it's slow and buggy as hell.
You should either go with a different IM program, such as Trillian or Gaim, or look for the non-Triton version of AIM (5.9.3861).

I'd use a different IM client than AIM Triton.
