My computer's operating system is Windows 98, and for some strange reason, everytime I start the computer, my system time and date gets reset to an earlier time and date. It is becoming quite annoying to keep changing them everytime I open the computer. What is the problem here, if any, and how do I solve it? Many thanks! :)

yes the problem is caused by the battery on the motherboard (called the CMOS battery) has gave up. and will need to be replaced its easy to change turn off pc, open case locate battery which is about 1" inch across. usually near bottom right of motherboard take out battery put new 1 in, do reverse, reset time and date in bios, then in windows and thats it for another few years.

There is a battery inside your computer that looks like an over sized watch battery. It needs replaced.
